Can I feed oats to a 1 year old for dinner?

My 1 year old only has about 5 teeth (2 bottom, 3 top). So I cannot feed her with normal solids yet.

I feed her rice porridge with assorted vegetables for lunch and thought of feeding her with something different for dinner.

I started with fruits puree for dinner but it was not enough for her. So I have now started adding the fruits puree to oats and feed her as dinner.

Is this alright?

I have given oatmeal to my son since he was 6 months old. It's more nutritious, more fiber-rich, and more digestible than rice. Oats are one of the best grains and best foods on Earth.

You could also try other nutritious grains like barley, whole-wheat pasta, quinoa, brown rice, or buckwheat.

Unless there is reason to worry about certain allergies, at 1 year, a baby can pretty much have anything, if it's soft or cooked soft and in manageable sized pieces. (No whole grapes, hard candy, etc.)

Do you give her foods other than fruits and vegetables and rice cereal? She can have meat, yogurt, cheese, beans, etc.

Thanks, Amy & Tina!
Yes, I do share with her whatever we eat. Like I hand her with carrot sticks, sweet corn, bread, etc but that is not enough for her. She needs proper meal like rice porridge.

Tat's why i thought of oats and later when we have dinner, she will nibble on those things as well.

I feed my one year old with 4 teeth carrots and potato I don't need to puree it he loves to use his hands to feed himself and he chews his food quite fine. It's just a matter of trial and error trying to find good healthy food that they enjoy. I'm sure oats would be fine.

Actually have you ever stuck your finger in and allowed your child to gum it, they are capable of chewing solids just make sure the pieces are cut up very small to prevent choking hazards. At that age my daughter wanted what we were eating and wasn't going to take no for an answer,

Please help me as I really don't know if I'm doing the right thing and I have no idea of what else to feed her for dinner as fruits or vege puree alone does not satisfy her.

She has some biscuits and milk in between.
