Hello Ladie's....I have been searching the web and can't find any info. If anyone could give me some advice I would appreciate it :) I am about 12 weeks postpartum, at 4 weeks postpartum I had my first menstraul cycle (this is my4th baby and I always get it about 4weeks PP) I have not had another period since then and all urine hcg tests are negative. I went to my OB/GYN last week, he only gave me another urine test and then prescribed me provera. I have always had regular periods and I feel like i'm pregnant. I have heard of taking provera only if no period for 6 months, I am positive that I did get my period(no bleeding for sixteen days), I feel like my OB/GYN thinks I was wrong and did not get my period. Has anyone ever heard of having a negative urine HCG test at 4-6 wks pregnant??? I don't want to take the provera until i'm sure that i'm not pregnant. My Dr basically blew me off when I mentioned a blood test /US, not sure if I should demand one, or talk to another DR in the group about it? Is it possible to get a negative urine preg test at 4-6 weeks, I'm only 29 so i'm not starting to experience any major hormone changes yet. I exercise 5 days a week eat well and am only taking a regular multivitimin no other herbs or suppliments. Any advise?????

When I was pregnant with my first I had vertigo at work SO badly they took me to the ER. They did a blood test and it came up negative. So it's VERY possible to get a false negative.

My Boyfriend Is Determined That I Am Pregnant.I Have Very Regular Periods, 21 Days Between End AnD Start. About 4 Weeks Ago I Started Feeling Nauseous Every Morning Between 9Am And 1Pm. I Have An Ache In My Lower Stomach That Doesn't Go Away, I Only Had This Ache Once Before, When I Was Pregnant With My Daughter Then I Had some Light Spotting Here And There Over A Span Of TwI Weeks. What I Thought Was My Period Started Eight Days Early. I Usually Have Very Heavy Periods But This One Was Lighter And Only 5 Days Long CompareD To 8. I Have Taken Two Tests In The Last Two Weeks Both Came Up Negative, But When I Was First Pregnant With My Daughter I Didn't Get A Positive Read Til I Was Three Months. I Want To Be Pregnant So Bad, But I'm Terrified Of Letting Myself Think I Am.

Thank you, I am a nurse in the ER and we usually do rely on the urine tests, but I have heard some stories of women really having false negatives but I never really thought that is was truely a false neg I thought they just tested too early. But I think i'm just going to call my doctor again :)

I am having a similar situation. I am pretty sure I am pregnant, I have all the symptoms, and by my calculations I am 6 weeks, all the home tests that I take are negative, I took one at 4weeks and one just now at 6 weeks. Also I am not in a position where I can go to the doctor right now, and It is very scary not knowing. Is there any chance at all that the home tests are wrong??? Please help me. I am very healthy, and I don't have any thyroid issues or any other kind of health problems and I am 27.

A friend of mine has an IUD for about six months now, her youngest is 12 and she just switched to an IUD and she went for an exam and her body actually rejected the IUD and she did indeed get pregnant, but she didn't take a test at home she had a urine and blood test at her doctors office. But yeah that is scary to think that test could be wrong, not knowing that you are pregnant could be dangerous, we all enjoy I drink here and there and thinks like that.

I have been looking on the web and I found some info about progesterone levels that could cause a false negative for urine and blood tests for up to 5 months of pregnancy, wow that's crazy i'm definitely going to call my Dr again and request an US so I can be on the safe side Thanks so much:)

I would get a second opinion to be sure. Our bodies can act different sometimes. To stress and other factors. It could just be that everything is taking longer to get back to normal this time. But i'd certainly get a second opinion to be sure before you take anything prescribed and just be careful in the mean time if you do not actually wish to get pregnant. I don't know of anyone having false negatives but I guess there is always the slightest chance.
