Can I start breast feeding again?

I breast fed my daughter for two months but her urologist told me to bottle feed instead because my supply wasn't coming in and she has somemajor kidney issues. Well I pumped for about a month and my supply shot up like crazy but stopped because pumping was taking too much time. Well her urologist just gave her a good bill of health right now and I was wondering if I could start breast feeding again. Is it possible?

Drink lots of water and keep pumping! It will take a while (maybe a month or two) to get back up to full strength but it's possible. It'll take a lot of time as far as pumping. Every time you give her a bottle just pump for 5 or 10 minutes (to start). That way you'll be pumping in sync with her demand. If you feed her from the breast instead of pumping still try to pump for a bit after the feeding. That will help you produce morebecause you're still demanding more even though she's done eating. It'll help get you back on track faster.
Hooray for you for switching back!!!

sure you can...and it's very good idea after she has kidney issues. It's good for you and her health too..If you 'dried up' a little, drink a plenty of water and other liquids..or try with some supplements for increasing breast milk supply. if you don't have enough milk at first, then you can add a bottle in the feeding.

So, you can combine feedings,(bottle, breast) but don't stop with breastfeeding.

you absolutely can go back to it! i did after 6 weeks, and i had dried up completely but was able to relactate. fenugreek and mother's milk tea will help you rebuild your supply, feed her as often as you can (if she is fussy and needs a paci, stick her on your breast instead), and if you have time pump in between until your supply is back up to where you need it to be. it took me about 2-3 frustrating weeks, but i did get there! good luck!

You could also get in contact with a breastfeeding association or lactation consultant for information or tips. Good luck

Good luck I think you'll be able to. I was told both dill and pineapple juice increase milk supply and found they helped me.

Thanks ladies. So I am still leaking, that means I am still lactating correct? So than I can try pumping and it might work? I'm excited, I'm going to try. Thanks for the encouragement!

as long as you are still lactating it shouldn't be a problem to start up again.- breastfeeding is a supply-demand kinda thing, the more she eats, the more you'll make. every woman is different when it comes to lactating, some still leak a little bit for a year after they stop breastfeeding and some it only takes a few weeks for their supply to completely dry up.

I think it is as long as your breasts haven't dried up.
