I have seen too many people wear regular jeans during pregnancy.. I think it will be fine for you to wear them. Honestly, I don't see how people can wear them.. I was so uncomfortable in regular jeans after I got to my 5th month b/c 1) they were getting a little too tight and I refused to by regular jeans in a size up (stubborn, I know) and 2) they kept falling down, so I bought the maternity jeans that have a flesh-colored spandex panel and they were SO comfortable and actually stayed up! But a friend of mine wore her regular jeans through the whole thing. As long as you're not wearing your jeans skin tight and they aren't up on your belly and you're comfortable, your baby should be just fine.

With the prenatal vitamins, yes they are good but dont stress if you forget them sometimes. They are just there to top up your body of any vitamins that might be lacking from your diet. Plus, the vitamins top you up, not the baby, your body will rob you of everything your baby needs, so the vitamins help replace what the baby takes from you. My iron levels fell very low while I was pregnant but my babies iron was fine, because my body took all of my iron and gave it to my baby.

Oh dear, I'm sure your mum means well, but that is ridiculous :) lol. Your uterus is very STRONG and it is designed to protect your baby. Tight clothing is no match for it. Your baby will be fine. Your circulatory system is also well protected in your body, you wont have cut it off wearing normal fitting jeans.

That's one of the most rediculous things I've ever heard LOL! Rest assured the jeans you have been wearing are just fine as far as your baby is concerned. I wore my usual jeans until about 4 or 5 months along, bought some a size or so bigger than I usually wear and wore those for another month or two THEN finally got some maternity pants PURELY for my comfort. Believe me, your jeans will be too uncomfortable for you to be wearing long before you baby would even care about their presence around your belly. Your child has not been, and will not be harmed.

As long as you don't feel constricted, and as long as you've been able to breathe freely, then no, there should be nothing wrong with the baby.

I worn jeans through my whole pregnancy and I had a healthy baby girl. When I got too big I just used a hair tie, rubber band or I left them unbutton. Just wear a longer shirt if you do. So don't worry. Just think of it this way if your comfortable your baby is.

I wore regular clothes my entire pregnancy and have a healthy baby. If your jeans are becoming uncomfortable and you don't want maternity ones, you can purchase something that can extend them.

If you don't feel comfortable, then ware something more roomy. If you don't feel constricted, then I wouldn't think it's hurting baby.

i was really small through my whole pregnancy and for the first 20-30 weeks all i did was take a rubber band or hair tie and hook it on the button of the pants and it worked great and my daughter is here and perfectly fine just when you start feeling too big for your pants make sure you change them to maternity

That sounds a little "old-wive's-tale" ish to me.. In my opinion, the only one suffering from wearing regular jeans when you are that far along is you. I think you would know if they are too tight by your ability to stay conscience for one...or if your feet or legs are loosing sensation or falling asleep. ha. I'm pretty sure your baby will be JUST FINE. The bag of water (amniotic fluid) is miraculously provided for protection. (Thank heavens the good Lord knew the baby would need some protection.) Just use common sense. If your circulation is restricted, then wear a larger pair of jeans or buy some maternity ones...it's ok to wear them, they make them so much better than they did when i was having babies.

one more quick question...what about my prenatal vitamins...i don't take them everyday bc i forget a lot, will do anything bad to the baby?

The baby should be fine - there were babies long before there were prenatal vitamins- lol. My suggestion to you - if you're forgetting to take your vitamins, put them next to something you use everyday . I used to keep mine next to my toothbrush in the bathroom, (brush teeth / take vitamin). That way, I never forgot.

Im sure you will be fine. i wore normal jeans right up until the last month of my pregnancy and my son is healthy and strong. Fortunately these days they have belly belts too which will help you a great deal.

I say that's a wives' tale. I wore my regular sized jeans the day I went into labor with my second and my baby was dropped and half way down the cervix 2 weeks before that so I don't think it should be a problem. My son is just fine.

The baby will be fine, there a million old wives tales tha tserve more to scare us than educate us. I would recommend the Belly Band. It's an amazing product that allows you to wear your regular jeans all the way the way thru your pregnancy. Works way better than the elastic hand band, trust me =) A friend just bought one for herself and she loves it.

no not at all, i wore regular jeans all the way up to 6 months, and after that i just got one of the belly bands.. you have so many body layers protecting the baby that it wont hurt the baby especially if their not hurting you!

Your baby is surrounded by layers of padding and fluid.. there is no way you can cut off the circulation of air and food to your baby when your baby receives that through it's umbilical cord. If babies depended on loose pants, there would be a huge problem :) your mom is just trying to ensure the best care for her unborn grandchild. Wear the loose pants when she's around.. :)

I don't think it could really hurt baby, but if you're concerned buy one of those pregnancy bands.. you can leave the pants unzipped/unbottoned and the band will cover it, and it's not even noticeable. More comfy for you, too.

lol...ive never herd any thing like this before. i never once wore maternaty clothing when i was pregnant with my daughter and she was 11days over due and weighed a very healthy 8lb 5oz :)....other then being a little uncomfy for you if they are too tight i dont see a problem...the baby is protected by your stomach fat and muscle and of corse all the amniotic fluid so its highly unlikley the baby will suffer any damage. im 22 weeks pregnant with my second and wear normal jeans almost on a daily basis

Unless they are extremely tight I wouldn't worry about it. I wore my regular jeans until I was in my 7th month and then had to start wearing pregnancy jeans (that's when my belly started getting huge!!!). As you get further along I would invest in a pregnancy belt which will give you back support. I chose not to and now I have tremendous pains in my lower back. Hope this helps!!!! Congrats!!!!

I wore regular pants and jeans through out my entire pregnancy and my ten month old little boy is growing and thriving. I don't think it would hurt your baby. However, I can understand how it may be restricting and uncomfortable later on in your pregnancy.

i wore my same pants all the way through my second pregnancy because I never could get maternity pant to fit i was a small belly a large length and a medium hips so small were like Capri and medium and large defeated the purpose because they were falling off my belly all the time....look on line they sell belly bands and belts that offer more support as you get bigger and make it so that you wont have to buy maternity pants because they turn your pants into maternity pants...but definitely make sure that your belly is not hanging out of your shirt...it can be a little awkward for you and everyone around you. I was able to just find more baby doll style tops the second time the first was horrible I gained 102 pounds and so I HAD to wear maternity clothes...its all a matter of what you can afford how big you get and weather or not you are comfortable. Congratulations on your little one. And good luck with your sono save the pictures you'll be glad you did one day

Hiya Codie!

I am sure your mom means well and is just concerned. But as to actual truth about this, that would be a big fat no! As long as you fit your regular jeans its fine to wear them. But even that is more about your comfort not the baby's.

For your own peace of mind go ahead and ask tomorrow when you have your ultrasound if there's any truth to your moms' "advise". But don't forget to enjoy the hell out of the ultrasound, that first time seeing and hearing your little peanut is an awesome moment!

Oh and maybe for future use..where I live they offer "Grandparent classes" this is done so that grandparents can get updated about new ways of child raising and get rid of old "wisdoms" that just don't apply anymore. This might safe you (and your mom) a lot of misunderstanding when the baby comes and help avoid conflict.

So if I were you, don't worry and enjoy your pregnancy!

I usually forgot to take mine- they are a good idea but not necessary- your body automatically will give the baby everything it needs, if you aren't eating healthy it's you who will get the lack of nutrition, your baby will be fine.- as for the jeans, i wore my regular jeans till i was due, if they get uncomfy you should probably switch- just because there is no reason to make yourself uncomfortable while your pregnant- or anytime really.

I wore my jeans right up until the day before I had my son. And he's perfectly fine and healthy. I also wore a lot of yoga pants. I didnt like the look of the mat pants. I just bought bigger sizes an used hair elastics to make them more comfortable and wore long shirts to hide the elastics and the fact that the zipper was rarely done up. I definitly dont see a problem with wearing regular jeans as long as you feel comfortable in them

i dont believe all this is happenin, i think you mom is jus sayin your pants are jus too damn tight....lighten up on the jeans...where a looser fit...it will actually help you in the long run on being comfortable and especially when you eat. when you eat, amke sure you where loose-fitting clothes anyway...you can eat more ;) lol...but i wore regular clothes...you just have to make yourself presentable as a mother-to-be and still look stylish and cute...and please...no offense cuz ive seen a lot of white girls do this...please dont have your baby hanging all out of your clothes and wear your pants and shirts way too small...that babyb on the inside should be dressed jus like you...lol..but yeah...good luck with that...hope i helped...

Be careful of old wive's tales. You will hear a TON of them before the baby is born. All wearing regular jeans will do is possibly make you uncomfortable. The baby will take up as much room as it wants/needs when it wants/needs it. The same goes for nutrients and everything else. Your body automatically sees to the baby's needs first, then you get the leftovers. Good luck with the ultrasound!

You have nothing to be worried about. I've had 2 girls and wore my regular jeans all the way through the pregnancies and they are healthy with no problems. They are 12 and 9 so wearing regular jeans is fine as long as you are comfortable.

I still wear my jeans and I am 18weeks. I just use a hair elastic to loosen the jeans the bigger I get. Eventually I will have to go into my mat jeans and pants but right now I like wearing what I have. I have never heard of it stunting growth or cutting of circulation, but there will just come a time when you outgrow them lol
