I havent have a period for at least 3 years.. and i have been to a dr. and they put me on bc pills, and to start my periods back up i had to take 7 pills for 7 days, then bc pills, but i stopped taking them because my husband and i want to have a baby but no one tell me why i cant , its so heart breaking

I have been told that you can and that you can not. If you do not have a period then your body is not ovulating and releasing the eggs. You might want to talk to a dr they might have to give you a mild birth control to make you start or something else of the sorts.

You could take an ovulation test, or you can just try for a baby every day! It will be fun for both of you ;)

Hi everyone and congrats Amber! Well me and my fiancé are trying for a baby, however I had been on the depo injection for almost 10 years. Well after coming off it and a visit to my doctors she has told me that I can get pregnant without a period as I havent yet had one 7 months after coming off it. However I was wondering what is the best way to be able to tell that I am ovulating?

Emma you have it backwards!!! The uterus only preps if there is an egg... which means you don't have to have one period to get pregnant!!! You just have to ovulate. I will say it again, this is how its possible for a 12 year old girl to get pregnant despite never having her period!!!! And this is the exact reason why talking early with your girls about birth control is important. It only takes one egg to get pregnant and it comes BEFORE the period. No egg.. no period. Not no period not egg.

I would have to say yes, doctors and nurses are always saying not to use breastfeeding as a birth control, so I believe it is a different situation for every person!

Here is the simple truth you can't get a period without ovulating. But that doesn't mean you can't get pregnant the moment you ovulate. Meaning like teenagers who have never had their period before getting pregnant you can get pregnant and not get your period because you missed it due to the fact you are pregnant! In this case the egg definately comes before the chicken *period*.

Yes.. It is possible to ovulate and have no periods. I have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS) and my doctor explained that yes, I could ovulate and not have my period. The egg absorbs back into my endometrium instead of out through my period.

I did, twice! I breast fed all my kids (ages 11, 10, 3 and 21 months) If you are breastfeeding you most definitely can get pregnant still whether your menstruating or not. I never found out with my 2nd & 4th until i was 3 months along because i never had any morning sickness or other symptoms. I was under the impression that your period had to have returned first but my doctor told me after the fact that it was very possible to get pregnant even though it hadn't. The only way to tell for sure is to take a test.

no im not on birth control, i was on it and still not getting any periods, my doctor said it could be the hormones in the birth control, i stopped it because of that and because i want another baby, but still nothing. maybe those fertility tests from rite aid work?

NO YOUR NOT OVULATING IF YOR NOT HAVING YOUR MENSTRAL CYCLE. YOU MAY BE GOING THROUGH PRE-MENOPAUS. IT WOUD BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST TO SEE A DOCTOR AND HE WILL BE ABLE TO INFORM YOU ON YOUR FERTILITY LEVELS. ARE YOU ON BIRTH CONTRL

I did...I was still nursing my 18 month old son, and had been on birth control for most of that time...I went off it, still never got a period, but DID get pregnant. It was funny (and still is) when I was asked about the date of my last cycle during my medical pregnancy test last summer, and had to say May 2007!!! I also had a girlfriend who was an athlete, and only had one or two periods/year, she got pregnant sometime between them, and found out she was preggers too...surprise!

Pregnancy occurs between ovulation and menstruation. So you could have a period coming, but if the egg is planted, it will never come. However, it is much less likely than it is with a regular cycle.

Yes you can!.....I know a girl that has some issues and only gets her period like twice a year. The doctor told her that she would never be able to have kids....well, she has a two year old so I guess that doctor was wrong...ALWAYS use protection and ALWAYS assume that you can get pregnant.

no you can't get pregnant without periods you female reproductive system is not working right and it could be hormonal! after i had my son i bleed for the first year straight and then i stopped and i still wanted to another baby but i haven't had a period in like two and a half years and i haven't meet a doctor yet that says i can get pregnant !! they just say that i need to be on hormones and now i would have to take special meds to make myself ovulate! i went through surgery because they found three huge cysts on my ovaries which can cause periods to stop or to bleed heavily without stopping so they removed them and still no periods. i don't if that hepls any but i would definitely see a doctor and talk to them ...

yes you can. I did not get my period wile I was nursing my first child, and I got pregnant. The only way I found out was that I started getting morning sickness.

You can get pregnant with no period. While brestfeeding you don't have a period but you can very much get pregnant. You should definitely see your doctor to find out why you aren't having a period.

well i would say yes because you can get pregnant while breastfeeding and most times the people havent had their peroid yet because they are breastfeeding so i would say yes

I think you have to always assume you can get pregnant, even with no period. But if you're worried about it, talk to a doctor to see why you aren't having a period.
