My 2 and a half year old has two canker sores in his mouth. I've never heard of this before. He won't eat anything because it hurts too much. Is this normal, and what can I do about it??

My daughter had a hole lot of canker sores on her mouth months back and they were so sore she wouldnt eat.. When I took her to the doctors they said she had hand-foot and mouth disease... nothing serious, they dont do anything for it, just treat the symptoms, tylenol for the discomfort, and stay away from Citrus, tomato, spicy, any foods that would irritate the sores... it lasts for 7-10 days... If this is what your son has, he may also get tiny litle blisters on his hands and feet in a couple days, might not though my daughter didnt...... Hope this helps!

my daughter gets these when she has too many sweets, oranges or kiwi fruit. I give her some abosol to numb the pain and rinse with salt water, that is about all you can do (besides cut out the sweets)

I've had canker sores all my life. Stay away from acidic foods and try Orabase (not gel). I've used this since I can remember and love it. It's a paste that sticks to the sore not only numbing it but it has medicine in it to heal the sore. Be sure to check with your pediatrician.

That's the crazy thing is he NEVER has sugar. most are natural sugars and even then its Not often. so I was shocked when he got them. thanks for the reply though, what is abosol and is it medicated or natural?
