My son will be 3 in Aug. and he is to big for the carseat he is in now, it is a My Ride65, and I was wondering if a high back booster with a 5 pt harness would work. Any ideas as to what would be the best one to get?

Look on the seat, if your son is under the height and weight limit to rear face then there's no safer way for him to ride no matter how long his legs are. My rearfacing three year old is 41inches and his legs fair fine!

Kids legs do NOT get too long to rear face. They can cross them and still be comfy. My son is 5 now but he rear faced until almost 4 and he was 42-44 inches and 35 pounds when we turned him. I cannot remember the exact height and we have the britax seats. Check the height restrictions on the seat before you get a new one. Most go up to 49 inches.

Yeah he is getting to tall for it. His head is at the top of the seat and his feet are jamed up against the back of the front seat. His legs are too long to be rear facing, but other than that weight wise he is fine.

Yes he needs to at least be in a 5pt harness. Also how big is your 3yr old that he doesn't fit in his current car seat?

I agree with Laura. Anything with a 5 point harness should be good. Doesn't the MyRide65 harness to 65 pounds though? How big is this almost 3 year old?

My son just turned three this month, he's rearfacing in a sunshine kids radian xtsl.
Also the diono rxt would allow most three year old kids to stay rear facing.

Anything as long as it has a 5point harness.
Basically using the seatbelt isn't nearly as safe as the harness, so avoid the harness posters that use a seat belt.
But I'm curious, how is he too big for the my ride65? Isn't that good til 65lbs? Is he too tall?
