disagree to a point. I believe schools should have policies on cell phones, and that they should not be used during class.

When my child is driving I would like them to have a cell phone with them in case they have issues with there car. They need to be aware of the dangers of driving and talking/texting and that it's the parents job to make sure there kids know they shouldn't do it.

I feel like the government should get invovled for sure. Not necessarly for what age a person should be to have one but for when it can be used...my province is one of the few that doesn't have a law against driving while on the phone or texting. I have 2 young children and while driving through a proince that does have the law of no driving while on the phone we were run off the road 2 times within 4 hours by 2 different transport trucks. It is not safe and people need to us their heads a little. I see teenagers on the highway all the time texting to their friends and not paying attention to the road. It is sick and this is why i think parents really need to restrict use and the government needs to pass this law everywhere! It'll make everyone safer on the road and i'm sure the teenager who hits another family while laughing ti up over a text message would never forgive herself because a text message can wait, a phone call can wait...if not pull over and deal with it.

My son's cellphone has come in handy several times at school while in elementary school. He was warned about using it, playing with it, and punished when he didn't heed the warnings, but cellphones are no more disruptive than a new transformers toy, or a whoopee cushion and definitely helpful.

Disagree as well. The parents should be able to decide SOMETHING for their own children! Schools have their rules about cell phone use while there and kids are upheld to those but as far as regulation, that's a parent's responsibility to set limits and rules for their own children.

Disagree - I don't believe it is the place for government to regulate social issues, and this is a social issue which is up to the parent to regulate. Unfortunately, government is becoming more of a social regulator that it really should, and regulation is generally the result of the minority abusing something, rather than what is suitable to a majority. WHo is the government to tell me my 12 year old shouldn't have a cell phone? They don't know my personal situation, or, for that matter, what is in the best interests of my child. Same as I don't know what is in the best interests of yours :) That is why we are the parents.

I agree to a certain point. I used my moms cell phone when I went out somewhere when I was younger, but I dont want daughter to have one until she can drive.

Agree to an extent. I had a cell phone before i drove because i didn't get my lisence until i was 19 lol...but i did have a cell phone for my 16th bday and it was a pay as you go and for EMERGENCY only! And i never used it for anythign else. I worked and paid for it myself and was involved in sports so it was just easier and a privilage to have. I ahte my cell phone now and i rarely use it at all lol
