I am having a debate with my dad (sons grandpa) that giving my son chocolate before acertain time in the morning is not right, am i being over sensitive or is there facts about this theory??? Please Help!!!

avoid giving chokolates or choco drinks to kids, it will make them more hyperactive..My mother in law wants to give everything to my baby like chokolates, coffee etc but I am the mom, I really tell her not give my son those kind of foods

Your kid, your business.
Chocolate is no less or more of a problem regardless of what time of day it is given. I 'typically' do not allow 'sweet treats' until after lunch, but sometimes breakfast is a chocolate chip waffle. ;)

I don't think there are too many studies done on sugar intake and time of day but I agree with the other moms-your dad should respect your wishes. I let my parents give the kids whatever kind of treats they want whenever but they are reasonable and if I didn't want them to do something they wouldn't. I know it means a lot to my dad that my sons associate him with treats so they usually get dessert at their house wether they eat all their dinner or not. I don't see any harm in them getting treats when they normally wouldn't as long as it's not all the time.
Bottom line though- Mom should get to make the rules and others should follow them.

I don't know about facts. It's more opinion than anything else. I've given my kids chocolate chip pancakes for breakfast. I haven't noticed anything different in their behavior on those days or anything.
But Jenny is right. Whether there are facts to back you up or not, it's your child, so your rules.
