My daughter had colic for 4 months every night from 10pm to 2am. What I found best worked for me was:
1: Snuggly: I carried her everywhere ALL DAY
2: Nestle Easy to Digest Formula: I found Enfamil way too hard on her tummy
3: Massaging her belly in cirlcle motions with warm OLIVE OIL (believe me, it worked to alleviate gas pains)
4: Many warm baths
5: Having her lay on my chest
These were the worst 4 months of my life...I really feel for you. I tried those gas relief drops (regular and organic) and they didn't work...gripe water only worked for about 10 minutes as well. As you can see, I tried MANY tactics and it really depended on her state of being. There were good days and not so good days! Hang in there, it will get better.

My first son was colicy. BAD! He would cry hard from 7 pm until 11:30pm then sleep throught the night. We had two things work for us. 1. We took him to the chiropractor about three times and it cut the time down to 2hrs. 2. We ran the vacuum and that worked the best. I know it sounds crazy but he would stop and sleep about 5 sec. after we turned it on. After the first night we recorded it and would play the tape and it worked just as good. No joke. It worked for 2 friends and my cousin who told me about it. Good Luck!

Hang it their girly...Just remember that ALL babies are different...so what might work for these mommies below may not work for your little mama. Trying won't hurt though. Just take a deep breath it will get better. And by the way...I take Bryson to the Chiroprator...I would take all my babies if we could afford to...lol. Let me know if you need anything! :0)

I have honostly been enlightened by all of your posts... Thank you! Just wondering... has anyone else taken their babies to the chiropractor?
Hi Dalia, I have taken my son to the chiropractor and he liked it. He squirmed like he was being tickled. Their adjustment movements on the child are soft/mild. They temper their touch because it does not take much to align the vertabrae. There is no pain at all for the child. It can help with colic, bathroom issues and more. Ask around your area and find a chiropractor that people like a lot and go to talk with them. A consultation won't commit you to it and it will answer a lot of your concerns. With so much medicine out there that goes into the body, it is nice that a chiropractor can help people naturally by aligning the spine. I hope this puts you mind at ease. Take care and have a nice day.

Thanks for all the info and sharing your experience...we are giving her Nestle Good Start. My pediatrician suggested we try Enfamil Gentlease, but I'm hesitant on switching her. Did you try any of these formulas?
Hi Dalia, I would compare the ingredients in these formulas(Nestle Good Start and Enfamil). You should be able to do some of this work online I would imagine, if not then the store. Enfamil is a great brand and you can get retail checks from them to help off set with some of the expense. I used the Enfamil Lipil and mainly the Enfamil AR (Added Rice Starch) due to the fact my children had acid reflux. It helps make their tummies feel like it had something to work on. I have heard some mom's using the steam from a hot shower to help with colic too. Take care.

I have three children, my 2nd child and my only daughter was colicy as well, and trust me it dose get better, I know right now it feels like life will never be normal again, but it dose get better, so keep your head up, you will make it threw. I tired so many different things for my daughter, she would cry from the time she got up in the morning until the time she went to bed, I remember calling my husband at work on a daily basis crying my eyes out because I didn't know what to do for her. One thing that worked really well for me was to get one of those slings that I could carry her on the frount of me and I would carry her around all day, while I did dishes, while I did laundry, even while I worked out! She loved it! That was the only thing besides putting her in her baby car seat and swinging her back anf forth for ever, I mean she liked that darn car seat more than she did her swing, and then one morning I woke up and she just stopped crying, out of no where it all just came to an end! And now out of the other 2 that I have besides her being dramatic she is the easiest one to take care of most of the time. So hang in there! It won't last for ever! Good Luck!

My daughter was on regular similac and when she became colicy we switched her to Similac Sensitive with is just like Enfamil Gentlease. I would recommend it if that's what your doctor said. It's just not good to switch babies formula all the time. But switching brands and types may be necassary for a happy baby. Good luck!!

I nursed my baby a lot when she was colicky, and it made her sleep and not cry. Or we walked her in the stroller and she'd finally crash.

One of my four children was colicky. The only way to soothe her was to put her in the car seat and go for a ride. We went on many rides together for a couple of months.

Could be lactose issues! A soother increases the saliva to the stomach which is great to sooth them. I love playtex otho. Don't forget to look into why he or she might be colicky. There usually is a good reason. If you feel like it's more than colic talk to your doc. Have you tried to wear your babe? I had this great carrier and my son just loved to cuddle up to me and sleep.

I breast fed my babies but when I ate spicy foods they would get upset tummies sometimes, watered down organic mint tea worked really well.

My second child became colicy at 4 weeks old and we had no idea what to do. We took a rice bag. It is like a little pillow case filled with rice and warmed it in the microwave for 45seconds and then laid it on the floor. We laid her on it for a while or laid her in a bouncy seat and laid it across her belly. That worked good. I know alot of people are not for taking their child to a chiropractor, but we took her to a chiropractor at 6 weeks old, and had her adjusted. She was a completely different child immediately after that. I was very anti chiropractors until I had no other choice. I didn't know where else to turn and I was told to just go in and talk to one and see what they have to say. I was very satisfied. It only took me 3 times of taking her in to see them, and she was better. They told me that sometimes it is that they come down the birth conal so fast, that it really throws their body for a loop and knocks things out of place. They can really be in pain. It is worth it just to go in and talk to a chiropractor. It isn't going to hurt just to talk to them. Maybe they will have some suggestions.

I had an acid reflux baby and what I found is that pressure on their stomaches by facing away from you. Also, we would put on baby Einstien dvds. It really is trial and error. Another thing is push their knees to their chest sometimes that will get out gas. Gas drops also help somewhat.

My son was colicy for the first few months of his life, and I am a single mom, so I wore myself thin walking a crater into the wood floors =)
I did a lot of rocking and tapping on the back, but nothing really seemed to help him except for when i walked and bounced at the same time, and rubbed his belly...
Good luck sweetie!!

My now 8 year old was so colicky that she would scream for most of 10 to 12 hours a day. When I changed her to Enfamil Nutramigen it was like I had a whole new baby. It only took a cuple of days to see the difference.

Our second baby had colic and if she were my first, I'm not sure we would have had any more children. The experience was very trying and reaching out to family and friends really helped us get through it. We also warmed receiving blankets in the dryer (not hot of course, just toasty warm) and then snugly swaddled her in them. Some nights were better than others. Hang in there! It gets better over time.

I had a colicy baby too and the one thing I can promise you is that is gets better. We put my daughter on Similac Sensitive and that helped a little. But some nights NOTHING would help what so ever. Hers started at about 5 every night and lasted a few hours. At the start of the night it was horrible and she would scream her head off. We would walk around holding her with her facing out with our arms around her tummy and that calmed her down a little bit. She is three months though and her colic is almost gone... she rarely cries for no reason anymore. It's five here right now and she swinging in her swing just being quiet and looking around. It will get better.
Some lady told me to use Gripe Water. I didn't try it but others swear by it. Read about it on the internet if you want. I read about it there.
