So, I know this will probably get negative feedback from some people, however I'm interested in opinions on this subject so I'll ask anyway. My son when circumsized when he was 2 days old, as he grew a little older, he got chunky (not unhealthy but good sized rolls) he is now 9 - almost 10 months old and his penis' foreskin (What little was left) has reattached itself. His doctor doesnt seem concerned by it, even when wax build up was coming out from around the head underneath the attached skin. I'm wondering if anyone else is going through this, or has gone through this and what you've been told or encountered along the way, any problems, solutions...etc? For anyone wondering why I chose circumsision in the first place, it was a personal choice we decided as parents...I understand some choose not to circumsize...we chose TO circumsize....so let it go.

never force it. Sometimes it will come loose on its own. Sometimes it needs to be done surgically. Not all boys have a lot of skin left, my son didn't, doctors cut it differently. I would just apply a jelly of some sort to help keep it soft, and once it seems good and soft start pulling it back, after bath will be a great time, but you need to do it after each change, if its going to come loose on its own that will be the way.

Also i like how you don't explain why you choose to do it, Good for you!

I had the same problem with my son. He had too much skin and he was a chucky baby as well. The doctor seemed fine with it and it bothered me. So I left that doctor because I thought I could get a second opinion. The next doctor said that when my son gets older around 4 to 5 the skin should detached itself. Well my son is 4 1/2 now and just last night he was crying in the bathroom. I ran in there and he said his penis was hurting. To my surprise the skin was detaching from the head. My doctor was right. I just feel bad for him because it sore and the skin is red underneath. Ugh, So I pretty much have to do the whole putting petroleum jelly and making sure it wont attach again because it will!!! I feel what your going through. Good luck.

Both of my sisters kids got circumsized, and both kids have somthing very similiar. She was told to wait until they are older to see if it bothers them....then they can decide to re-do the surgery themselves. At this point, it would be considered major, and might not be necessary at all. IMO I would wait and let him decide. It might be fine, one of my sisters kids is now 15, and has no issues with it whatsoever. As for the build up, just make sure you are doing your best to clean it. Like the others have said, don't force it back. If you are worried, bring him to the pediatrician...that is what they get paid the big bucks for. My son is NOT circumsized, for personal reasons...and for what happened to my sisters kids.. (both of them,,,damn) Good luck.

we did not circumcise so i cannot speak from experience, but i would take the advice of both Linda, and Abbie above me. i would use petroleum jelly to prevent sticking, at least until you get a second opinion from a urologist. my fear would be that it would reattach improperly and possibly cause scar tissue, or make sex uncomfortable for him when he's older.

do what abbie said. dont force it back right away.. it was hurt them and sting. my sons reattached by the time he was 2 months old and we were told to use plenty of p. jelly and keep it soft and keep pushing it back so it doesnt reattach again. we didnt know it reattached until we had taken him to a urologist to make sure he didnt have a hernia and he noticed it and pushed it all the way back and my sons petey bird(lol) started to bleed.

keep it clean!

Well I noticed that there was still a fair amount of skin after my son was circumcised. I know what wax build up you're referring to as well, I always had it peel it back (gently) and make sure to clean in there. But as he's grown, the bit of foreskin that was left has disappeared. It's like he grew into it. He's now 15 months old and I don't have to pull anything back to clean build up anymore.

I don't know, but you could get a second opinion or go to a urologist if you are really concerned.
