I am wondering how do I start using cloth diapers? My income amount has changed and everywhere I can save I am trying. I am swithcing from regular diapers to cloth. My son is 10 months old and I am 20 so a younger parent and have no idea how to use cloth diapers.

What stores(online or regular) can I buy them from?

How do I use them?

Any other things/advice I should know?

Thanks for reading,

Sarah

I agree with Saundra. I just bought 10 diapers on ebay for 4$ a piece brand new. Can't get better than that. If you are planning on more kids one size diapers are the way to go. Then you can use them for the next child and not have to worry about different sizes. Good luck. We love Cding!

I know it sounds crazy, but ebay is the way to go! I bought all of my cloth diapers on ebay, brand new, and got great deals! I like the all in ones. I try to catch the auctions right before they end, and I watch for the cheapest prices. Sometimes buying one at a time is cheaper, sometimes buying 6 to 12 at a time is cheaper. Just do the math and you can save lots of money! Good luck and congrats on going with cloth! We have saved so much!

There is a great group on COM of cloth diapering Mom's. I must have left the group a while back b/c I took a break from cloth diapering.

You can order them online. We got ours from organicbaby.com.

We use chinese prefolds and Bummis Super Whisper Wraps for covers.

I ordered my diapers 6 years ago for our first baby- pretty sure we have the medium size diapers which work into toddlerhood for our skinny kids. There are size charts on the ordering sites as well as a guide to how many you need.

We use disposables at night and cloth during the day and wash every other day. 15 diapers keeps us well stocked between washings. To do cloth at night too, you'll want 20.

We have 3 covers and to fasten, we use snappi's which are a Y shaped rubber contraption with little teeth on the end to grab hold of the diaper. WAY easier to use than diaper pins.

You can find folding directions online and my diapers came with directions.

We use two ACE hardware buckets to hold the wet diapers in one and soak the poopy ones in the other.

To wash, I presoak in cold, wash in hot with a little vinegar to balance the ph and then ad an extra rinse at the end. During the summer we line dry.
