I agree with finding a new doctor! It is kind of scary to switch, but this one doesn't seem to be listening to your concerns. "Stay the course" isn't an answer when the course isn't working!

If you are using formula mix in a table spoon of Kayro white syrup.

This has been used for several generation and proven to work.

Good for you Kerry, go with your mommy instincts. We have them for a reason. This does not sound like a very good fit for a doctor for you and your son.

i a gree i will take him to a different doctor. i am also cosidering expressing again he was never constipated on a mixed feed. i only stopped breastfeeding because the same doctor put me on tablets that thinned my milk but i expressed tonight after a week break and it is looking good again.

I think my son was constipated for 9 days before the Dr FINALLY told me about the glycerin suppositories. Within 45 minutes he was cleaned out and sleeping comfortably.

Sorry I misread the part where you said "this formula", i actually omitted "this". I agree with marina it's an odd thing for a doctor to tell you to use brown sugar and water for a 5 week old, I'd find another doctor in that case!

I would think about getting a second opinion from a different pediatrician. I have never heard of the brown sugar thing, or staying on a formula that could be causing constipation.

I have never heard of using brown sugar....Pear juice helps....Or prune juice, but your baby is awfully young for that. It sounds like to much iron in the formula? I had to switch to gentle ease when my son got constipated. It really helped. I needed to used glycerin suppositories also, but he was a little older than 3 months.....and he was also breastfeeding. So it was not just strictly formula. Trying another brand of formula at this point is not going to hurt, it will help. Look for reduced iron, or low iron...

Listen to your doctor about the formula, there little stomachs can't handle anything else!
