He is 3& a half, everything started when he was 3 weeks, By then I was only breastfeeding, so I thought had to do something with it, at 5 weeks I decided to give him a bottle, so I combine 3 bottles a day and the rest breasfeeding, but he still cries, and now even with the bottle, I am getting desperate! Last night and today only ate 100ml in each feed (and cried more than ever), normally he would drink 175 or 150ml...can it be he is teething or something? he is drooling a lot and putting his han on his mouth a lot!!

thanksssssssss

This sounds very similar to my son. He would scream like it was hurting him to eat. I didn't like forcing him because it just made it much worse to where he woud see the bottle and scream even louder. The Dr found he had pyloric stenosis (sp?) This meant that the muscle at the bottom of the stomach was very narrow...almost closed. He explained it like imagine a garbage disposal and it has a clog what happens???Everything comes up and sits there...so I was putting food on top of the other food. They just dialated his pyloric muscle with a baloon and it worked!! I hope this helps...ask your pediatritian about it.

a couple thoughts... you said not every time..but he cries at some feedings maybe you are full and milk is coming out to fast,, or not fast enough.. bottles make things differant.  someone said YES he is teething.. no always so. some don't teeth  till MUCH much later. get with your doc. take notes at feedings. early am? breast or bottle, how hungry was he to start the feeding...  and then get with a doc. or maybe get ahold of LE LEache League they are GREAT help! good luck!

Sounds like something hurts to me too. I would talk to doctor, his tummy might have an ulcer or anthing- there is an indian remedy a friend turned me on to to help babies calm thier stomachs, only I forgot the name(big help right?) Its called something (one word) water. You have to ask for it at an indian food store and it comes in a small bottle- its liquid and clear if I remember right. Just tell the store person its for babies stomachs and they should be able to help. It worked like a charm for me.

So he is 3 and a half months old i am guessing thats what you meant? right? If so yes he is teething. My son used to cry after eating too, it might be gas, but I stuck a soother in his mouth right after i pulled the bottle out and gave him his soother and then burped him and he was fine. I suggest to try that.

Thanks everybody for your answer...I know is not thrush...and another thing is that he doesnt cry every single feed, so I dont understand why he would some feeds and some others not,and as soon as I take the bottle or breast from his mouth he is content and happy...if something hurts woulnt he keep crying for a while??

he gains weight nicelly...and the rest of the day he never cries he is a really content baby...

At about 2 months, Eva started screaming at feedings and I knew she was hungry.  I thought maybe it was a milk alergy so I took her to the doctors.  He prescribed Zantac for acid reflux, some call it GERD.  She's gaining beautifully know so I'm pretty sure that the medicine is working.  Other things I did were to hold her upright when feeding her and to keep her upright after eating.  Good luck!!!  You will get through this, but definitely talk to your doctor.

My daughter cried when she should have been eating and we found out she has problems with her stomach--so eating was painful for her...take him to the doctor and demand that they find out what the problem is (nicely at first) but be insistent---you're the only one really looking out for your son.

Sounds like something hurts. I would definately talk to your doctor. Explain to him/her how long this has been going on. Has your son been putting on weight like he should??? I would push the doctor until they have an answer for you. The signs your son is showing are definately not normal. Good luck!

His crying could be any number of things, Have you talked to your doctor about it??  If you communicate with the doctor regularly the two of you could go over what;s going and maybe  a possible solution.   I had a child who cried after each feeding for hours on end, only later to find out she could not drink milk based formula, had to switch to the soy.  After that she was altogether a differnt child,. Much more content.

I have heard that thrush (yeast infection) can cause some babies to feel discomfort or pain whiel feeding, espcially on the breast as they have to suck more. Has he got any small white spots inside his mouth?
