My 3 year old wakes from sleep shaking. It goes away within a few minutes though. Anyone elses child do this? Asked doctor and she is not worried about it.

My child sweats alot, I remember one time I was holding him and he woke up to fast and was shaking... I think it is that they dont know where they are and it is such an abrupt wake up it shakes them a little.

I know she is not cold, I layer clothes on my kids at night because they dont always keep the blankets on them, but thanks anyway. I never though about her waking to fast, thanks for that possibity! I have also read many things about the low blood sugar. But my daughter is in the 95 percentile for height and weight (she is not overweight though, she is actually small around the waist). But with the low blood sugar, it would not go away on its own, right? Hers goes away within minutes of waking up.

juice first thing after waking or milk. Both my girls did and still occassanaly so this. Our ped thinks that it has something to do with thier blood sugar being low first thing. But then thats my girls who are both consitered low weight, they are short for there ages as well. But for us that cup of fruit juice first thing works just fine.

My daughter does it all the time! I agree with Tawny! I think they wake up to fast. I talked to my doctor about it and he said there was nothing to be worried about! :)

Maybe your child is cold. One of my kids wakes up shaking, and I wrap a blanket around him and the shaking goes away.
