get this checked asap, does he urinate alot? is he tired?
I was diagnosed at 13 years old after countless family member bagged my mom to take me in, I had dropped down to 40 pounds and had almost died. if this is not looked at as soon as possible the consequences can be fatal.
Getting him checked out as soon as possible means that he will have less chance of complications.
good luck, I hope he doesn't have it

I agree with the others. Go to your doctor with a notebook of symptoms he has exhibited and for about how long. The more the doctor knows about what has been going on the easier it will be for him/her to decide what course of action needs to be taken.

it wouldn't hurt to have it looked into, My cousin is a type 1 diabetic and he almost died from it, He got it when he was 6, My aunt took him into the doctor and the doctor just brushed it off as a flu, He wasn't getting any better she took him back 6 more times with everytime he was getting worse and worse his eyes were starting to sink into his head., finally the last time my aunt wouldn't accept it's just the flu and they did that blood test on him it came back as he was a diabetic and he had to be rushed by ambulance to The city to the children's hospital. They live in a small town and he was in the Hospital for a month so they could stabilize him and get his weight back up to where it should be.

Absolutely get him checked out and be informed when you go in. Use a site like WebMD to get some info on Type 1 Diabetes and compare the signs that your son is exhibiting with what it says. Go prepared to your doctor with questions and a journal of what you and his daycare provider has witnessed in his changes.
I speak from experience, my niece was finally diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when she was 5 after almost a year of back and forth from the doctor. Today she is 17 and healthy (and I have custody of her).
Be very proactive! Be specific when talking with the doctor and demand a Hemoglobin A1C test be preformed on the spot. Many childrens hospitals can get a test result in a few minutes.
Good luck and feel free to contact me if you have any questions. :)

Yes, have the child checked by the doctor. Keep track in a notebook what the child does eat. Offer vegetables and fruits. Lots of water, not sugar filled juices, or soft drinks. Does he sleep alot...more then other children in his age group...that would make it a concern.
