I went to the doctors as i was having some problems with my period. The doctor did a BLOOD test for thyroid function, pregnancy, iron etc etc. The test came back saying everything was fine and i was not pregnant. Fast forward 3 weeks and i didn't get my period did a home pregnancy test and it was positive. Went back to the doctor and she said it can happen as when i had the first blood test, if i was not more then ten days pregnant then there is a chance it won't show up. So yes it can happen, I was 5 weeks pregnant at that time. Good luck :)

For the second part of your question. If you are pregnant, you can do a rough estimate of time of conception by counting approximately 14 days from the first day of your last period. This is generally when ovulation occurs. It is the same method your OBGYN will use to determine your initial GA and due date. Keep in mind this is just a guess based on general measurements. When you have your first ultrasound (approx 16 weeks) they will be able to determine your due date and your GA more accurately.

As others have said, HCG levels rise the further you're along in your pregnancy. So it's possible they were too faint to detect at your doctor's appt. And now if you are further along, the home urine tests are able to detect the hormone.

At any rate, book another appointment. Get a blood test at the doctor's just to be on the safe side (because they are more sensitive) to confirm. If you are indeed pregnant and the home tests are picking it up, then the blood test will detect a pregnancy for certain.

I never went through this, but it is possible. The home pregnancy tests as well as the tests the doctors use measure the HCG hormone in your urine. You can not be pregnant one week and pregnant the next. The more pregnant you become, the higher the HCG levels will be.

It depends. When I went to the doctor's for a P test they've always done a blood test which is more accurate than a urine test.

I would try testing again in a week with a home test. If you get another positive, book an appt. with your doctor and ask for a blood test.

Good Luck!

Its possible, doctors normally just use a pee test like we do at home. Since early pregnancy hormons double each day, its very possible that one day you have a negative and then a positive.
