I had a miscarriage and was wondering how long other people that had miscarriages waited until they got pregnant again.

I think I had one period in between. We call it the elephant pregnancy because they both just seem to run together into one and last FOREVER. But so worth it!

My doctor told me to wait three months before trying to get pregnant again. I waited and it took a little over a year for me to get pregnant with my daughter. It's possible to get pregnant before that long, but it depends on your circumstance and if there were any problems after the miscarriage. I personally think you should make sure you have time to mourn your loss before trying for another baby. I wanted to try right away, but the more i thought about the more i realized i wasnt ready and the fear of losing another baby so soon terrified. Just remember when you do get pregnant that every pregnancy is different and just because you have one miscarriage doesnt mean you cant have a healthy pregnancy and baby the next time. My daughter is 8 months now and im glad with the way things worked out even though it took longer than i wanted. good luck to you and hope everything works out for you.

Most OB's will tell you wait 2-3 months after the miscarriage. Just so you have a period before you start trying again. I on the other hand have had problems with conceiving & will my last miscarriage in July I ended up getting pregnant before I even had a period and everything is ok with this baby.

Hi Lauren my first baby aborted at 4½ months and within 3 months I fell pregnant again. Please find out what the source of was for the miscarriage. I had to have a Shirodka (excuse the spelling) stitch to close my womb with my 2nd pregnancy which I carried full term. After that I lost another 4 babies - varying from 6 weeks to 3 months. With my last pregnancy I had the stitch again and carried full term. The muscles of my womb were too weak to hold the babies. Take care and everything of the best.

I believe my first pregnancy was either twins or I got pg within 2 weeks after a miscarraige. It was too close to tell. Never diagnosed.

Hi Lauren, you know I've got pregnant 2 months after I had miscarriage due to hydrocephalus baby girl. It depends upon your body resistance and reproductive system so Moms have different circumstances.

I had a miscarriage at 23 weeks in December of 1993, I got pregnant right after and had a healthy son born in October of 1994. The best advice i would give is to talk to your physician and make sure your healthy enough and your body is ready to give your baby the best chance! Good luck.

I think most doctors wil say 3 months. But after years of infertility I finally got pregnant and miscarried almost as soon as I found out. I ended up getting pregnant about 40 days later on my own without any fertility treatment. I'm the mother of a 2yr old an 4 month old now:)

Hey there! I remember reading somewhere that you should try to wait at least one cycle - just to make sure everything with your body kind of gets back to normal - before trying to conceive again. Hope that helps, and good luck!

I had two miscarriages and got pregnant soon after the second one. I did threathen to miscarry up to 5 months with the son I have now. After I had him I got pregnant again when he was 8 months old (not planned) and then had my third son 6 years later. If you have a good doctor talk to him.
I can tell you I was so upset after having two miscarriages I was scared to get pregnant again. It was worth it as I now have three healthy sons.

I'm sorry you lost your baby - it's a tough time. I waited 6 months before trying to get pregnant after my first miscarriage. It seemed like absolutely ages, and by the time I got to 6 months I was completely obsessed with being pregnant again. It took me a while to get pregnant again, and I lost that baby too. But I got pregnant 2 weeks after I lost the second and went on to have 4 beautiful daughters in very quick succession (no periods in between!). Everyone is different - only you will know when you are physically and emotionally ready...

I had a miscarraige in 2005 about 8 weeks later i went to the doctor because i had a constant belly ache she thought perhaps i had an infection from the miscarraige and sent me for a scan. I was so chuffed when the lady doing the scan told me i was pregnant, i must have caught straight after i lost one. My son is three now :)

I had a miscarriage in July 2008 but wanted to wait a few months before trying again. We started trying in October 2008 and I fell pregnant in December 2008. I had my baby girl Sept 2009 and feel very blessed so I wish you all the best.

I had a miscarriage in October of 09. My OB recommended waiting 3 cycles before getting pregnant again, giving your body time to heal and adjust. But i never got a period, and by december i took a positive pregnancy test. They said you're chances of miscarriage again are a little higher, but i'm 13 weeks with a healthy baby! You'll know when it's the right time for you. Or maybe you'll be pleasently surprised!! :)

I got pregnant mid April 2008 had a miscarriage late May (the 25th to be exact) and then got pregnant again in July and i had my son April 28th 2009. A 8lb 9oz healthy baby boy. I think it all depends on your body and your situation. Some people have miscarriages because there bodies just aren't equipped to carry a baby, sometimes its just bad timing. You should deff talk to your doctor to make sure you are otherwise in good health, i know most doctors recommend atleast 6 weeks before trying again just to give your body a chance to get back on track, getting pregnant again to soon could possibly lead to another miscarriage although that is not always the case!
Good luck ♥

I had a miscarriage in June 2008, was advised to wait until after i had my next period before trying again to allow my body a chance to realise what has happened to it. I got pregnant again in August 2008 and gave birth to a baby boy in April 2009 with no problems at all, so it is definately possible.

Hi Lauren, I had a miscarriage in July of 2008. I had to have a D&C done. My Dr. advised me to take a few months until he did a physical exam, and gave us the OK to try again. My husband and I used the First Response Fertile Tests, and got pregnant in April 2009! We have a beautiful little boy that was born January 4th, 2010. Don't worry too much I know how emotional it can be - it was our first pregnancy. Take it easy, and good luck!

I had a miscarriage and fell pregnant right away as no period for 9months. I got told that u are more likely to fall pregnant if u try right away but i know some that has been trying and is not pregnant yet so i think it all depends on the person what is right for one might not work on some one else.. and baby was fine

I had a miscarriage in April of '89, at 3 months pregnancy, then another one in Oct. of '90, at about 2 months. I gave birth to my oldest son in Nov. of '91, and then had 3 more children after that. Listen to your doctor's advice as to when to get pregnant again, but remember that there is much hope! We still are sad about the little ones that we lost, but are thankful for how God has blessed us! My oldest is about to graduate from high school.

I had three miscarriages within a year and a half. The doctors said we didn't wait long enough inbetween. So after the last one we waited about 6 months and finally had a healthy pregnancy. But I guess it all depends on how fast your body heals, I would ask the doctor to give you an exam and make sure you are healed before getting pregnant again.

My sympathies for your loss. I've had 2 m/c's in 5 years. My OB told me that physically I could start trying whenever I wanted; however, he recommended waiting about 3 months for emotional reasons. Since I wasn't getting any younger and am slow to conceive, we started trying after I'd had 1 normal cycle. It still took us 3-4 tries before we conceived again. I've heard several times that you are more likely to m/c again if you conceive right after a m/c. I don't know if that's true, but I wouldn't risk it. I'd wait at least a month or so.

I did about 2 years after. You must go to the doctor and have a teat performed to make sure that none of the blood from the miscarriage is still in your body. That blood may make you miscarry again so they must get rid of it.

I miscarried September 2007 at 10 wks and just 2 weeks before my wedding. I was told to wait at least a month before trying again. Found out I was pregnant in January 2008 and now have an adorable 15-month-old girl

[deleted account]

When I miscarried my first pregnancy my doctor recommended that I not try again for a couple of months. He said my body needed to recover from the loss and my hormones needed to settle down. However, it seems my loss stemmed from low progesterone levels. It took almost a year to correct the problem since I did not want to take Clomed which was the recommended drug for infertility at the time. I became pregnant again almost a year after my miscarriage. I have my wonderful 19 year old to show for it!

I miscarried very early in my pregnancy and I was pregnant again with in a month. The doctor had told me there was no reason to wait, before trying again. I'm sure it depends on your circumstance. I am happy to say the second pregnancy was full term and the baby was fine!

I'm so sorry for your loss...it's so heartbreaking. My very 1st pregnancy miscarried @ only 6 weeks. My Dr said it'd take a couple months before we could try again, so my hubby and I booked a vacation to Cancun for a month later. A week before we left, I had a positive pregnancy test, so I had bloodwork done & they said it was probably residual from the miscarriage and wanted to test me again 3 days later. I was sitting in the airport, on our way to Cancun (which had just been hit by a hurricane) when the Dr's office called and said I was indeed pregnant. I had a great pregnancy and gave birth to my little girl who is almost 4 now & as strong and healthy as ever (and loves spicy, Mexican food)!

They always say not to have unprotected sex for 6 weeks after a baby is born. Well a miscarriage is the same way. A woman is more fertile during this time. It happened to me, but I miscarried again the second time.

I had a miscarriage in june july 09 and the dr/gyno told me to wait until I had at least 2 normal periods and I have done that and we have been trying since and have not got pregnant yet but I think I have endo now and have to look in to all that again, talk to your dr as everyone is diffrent and it also depends on weather you misacarraaige natureally or needed a clean out after so your own dr/gyno is really the only one that can answer than depending on your curcumstances

HI
I had a miscarriage the week before christmas. I was hoping to try again once my period was over. My doctor suggested to wait for my first cycle so when I did get pregnant they would be able to date the pregnancy better.
Good luck my hopes and prayers are with you

I had a miscarriage at six weeks, had one period, got pregnant again, and lost that one at 12 weeks. I was also told to wait three months after my second one (I had a D&C) so my body could recover physically, but my doctor also advised me to wait until I was emotionally ready. It was one of the hardest things for me to go through, I waited 5 months before I felt ready to try again. So far, so good. I've made it to 16 weeks, but I'm still very nervous this time around.

I think it depends on the situation and your ability to handle the stress, but you can get pregnant right away after one.
