I ate a ton of chocolate!!!!! For the most part I ate very healthy though. :) I loved my chocolate though. The only time you're not supposed to eat chocolate is when your breastfeeding because chocolate can make your baby allergic. You have to be careful of what you eat when your breastfeeding. I don't see anything wrong with eating chocolate while pregnant!! :)

Courtney--If you breast feed, and I hope you can, a wonderful resource is La Leche League. I was able to breast feed my son and it made things so much easier. I had to watch what went into me, though. It also went into him.

Oh.. found out today.. that chocolate or fudge wont hurt you.. The only thing you need to worry about is.. when baby is born and if you are going to breastfeed.. you shouldnt eat fudge because it can cause baby to get diarhea.

You do need to eat healthy for you and your baby, but my goodness 3 spoons of chocolate isn't going to hurt anyone!! When I was pregnant, I ate a slice of pepperoni pizza and chocolate milk every day for lunch for awhile. Had to have the milk to counter the indigestion I was going to get from the pizza!! LOL!!! And the funny thing is my 25 year old son could eat pizza every day, he loves it!!! I agree with what others have said: If you eat unhealthy today, make up for it the next day by only eating healthy stuff. Pregnant women get all kinds of strange cravings. Maybe your Mother is actually freaking out about you being pregnant and she's just showing it this way. I would suggest you two sit down for a good heart to heart. You might want to have a 3rd party there to make sure it doesn't get out of hand. Good luck to you and your new baby!!!

with my first i ate TONS of sweets and she was only 8lbs 13oz with my second i ate sweets moderately cause i still had a lot of baby weight from my first (but my first was only about 6 months when i got preggers again) but with my third i hardly ate any sweets and she was 10lbs 6oz so it doesnt matter a whole lot i dont think unless you only eat sweets

lol oh man, I am almost unsure if this post is a joke. I know that you are supposed to eat healthy... but trust me when I say that your baby will be a okay EVEN if you eat JUNK 90% of the time. The reason why women get sick (catch colds, flus and illnesses) during pregnancy is because the immune system shuts down so that it doesn't reject the fetus. The reason why women have dental issues and bone aches, is because the placenta will pull the calcium it needs from wherever it is at. What I am trying to say is that you are only "hurting" you. Your body will take everything it needs leaving you with nothing if it means the baby will develop. Don't worry about a little frosting. You should have seen how horrible I ate with my second and she is a okay.

Late in pregnancy it is not a good idea to binge on sweets and carbs. Your baby may get large due to the sugar and what you and your baby really need are lots of protein. My sister ate so much Halloween candy before her 1st was born, she swears it made her baby huge, the baby wouldn't even fit into the diapers at the hospital. She warned me of this when I was pregnant. Her 2nd was much smaller.

Wow - First off, tell your mom to back off! It bugs me when mothers and or soon to be grandmas want to take control of the whole pregnancy. 3 soonfulls are NOT going to do a dang thing! Dr.s and who ever else say that you shouldn't have caffine - I said &^%$ that - i'ma have my mountain dew! PLUS, baby probably wanted that in the first place! With me, I wanted nothing but broadway (pizza place) spaghetti and KFC mashed potato bowl -- there is something in the stuff that we eat/crave that baby wants. And what baby wants, baby gets. Ride on your intuition. Not hers. And if you're really worried about it and want further opinion, ask your dr.

Your baby is fine- Your mother would be mortified by me- with the twins I gained 75pounds (was told to gain 60 pounds to carry them to term- I went above and beyond) I ate everything and anything I wanted- milkshakes and chocolate were my favorite! The twins and I were perfectly healthy...tell your mom to take a deep breath!

My first I ate a ton of Italian food,dr pepper and cupcakes with lots of frosting ....(she's fine except she's addicted to cupcakes) my 2nd one it was French fries,dr peppers,chocolate milkshakes and anything Carmel( I feel the more Carmel the better) (again fine but she's like me with Carmel ) lol! You and baby are fine...frosting is nothing to worry about

I believe your mother means well, but as many mothers are with their daughters who are carrying unborn grand kids, she may tend to exaggerate and impose old unproven folk tales on you. Just ask her to give you some space and suggest that she supports you by lightening your load. She can bring you fruit bowls and salads with a side of your favorite treats. Tell her that her
grandchild just LOVES chocolate icing. You may get a laugh out of her eventually! ; )

First let me say NO you did not hurt your baby by eating icing. I am a children's ICU nurse and mother of two. If you have been diagnosed with gestational diabetes you shouldn't be eating stuff like that because it will jack up your blood sugar which can cause problems for your baby, and if you haven't been checked yet you should try to limit sweets just in case until you know. Second, eating sweets will NOT cause diabetes, ever. If you are going to get it you will, there is nothing you can do about it. It's how your body processes sugar, not anything to do with how much sugar you eat. So stop worrying, tell mom to stop freaking out, and talk to your doctor/nurse for advice not mom!

Lol, of course you're baby will be fine. When I first read your title I thought you poped acid or some other drug. Why would you think frosting would harrm your baby? Of course if you ate a can of frosting every day then yeah you're potentially setting yourself up for diabetes. But 3 spoons at once will do no harm. Don't friek out just because someone does, do some reaserch instead.

Theres nothing wrong with having sweets while your pregnant! Just limit your intake because you dont want to get gestational diabetes & gain excess weight. I ate everything during my pregnancy and I had a perfectly healthy 7lb 4oz baby boy.

normally when you crave something when you are pregnant it's because your body is needing something. I ate steak and oranges for most of my 2nd trimester with my son. lol ummm VIT C and iron anyone lol

seriously if your that worried tho ask the doc thats what their there for but i have three healthy babies and i ate sugar all the time. i'm a good baker and i love doing it so i bake sugary treats all the time and use that stuff. my first i ate lots of sugary things and she was only 8 13 and my third i ate more healthy things and she was 10 6 so go sugar girl go in my opinion. try this yummy treat

make before going to bed.
preheat oven to 350
beat 2 egg whites to soft peaks
beat in 3/4c white sugar to stiff peaks
fold in 2cups semi-sweet choco chips
put wax paper on cookie sheets
turn off oven
drop spoon fulls of mix on wax paper
put cookie sheet in oven and go to bed
eat in morning

You HAVE to find a back issue of a tabloid (I think it was Weekly World News) with the headline, "Chocoholic Mom Gives Birth to Sugar Coated Baby". Give your mom the article, tell her you did some research about her concern & found that she was RIGHT! Hopefully, she'll get the point & see how ridiculous she's being & back off. If not, chances are she has plenty of her own issues. Just smile & say, "thanks for your concern, I'll ask my doctor about that". After years of trying to set limits or fight back, I realize it's not about me. I'm 52 & my kids are 23 & 16; don't wait that long to figure it out, my dear. Your mom loves you. She just has her own issues. Best wishes with the baby & enjoy every minute. They grow up WAY TOO FAST!

With my son I would eat a whole large bag of M&M's weekly. Ate some frosting too. Chocolate is ok as long as you balance it with fresh fruit and veggies. I would calmly explain to mom that some is ok she she needs to calm down. One thought also I had is that if this is her first grand baby she is gonna watch everything you eat and nick pick over everything. Just set boundary's. Good Luck!

My mother in law laughed when she saw what I ate the day before I had my second. It was oatmeal cream pies and a can of pop. I'm on my third and haven't had anyone tell me anything(besides alcohol and drugs) that could harm my baby. I even have a cup of coffee every morning with splenda and cream in it. If you are that worried consult your doctor. Otherwise I think your mom might just be freaking out. Especially if this is your first child and her first grandchild.

Really??? Your mom needs to relax. Unless you are a diabetic you are fine. You eat what you crave, within reason of course! I ate snickers and sherbert throughout my whole pregnancy, and the only thing that happened to my daughter is that she loves sweets....hmmm could be cause she's a kid. Just make sure your eating more healthy foods then the bad foods and your baby will be beautiful and healthy when born.

I drank mt.dew when I was pregnate but limited of course 1 can a day. It did not hurt your baby I promise! With my 1st pregnacy I drank chocolate or strawberry milk shakes everyday. I had too that's the only thing that got my baby moving.
Your momma needs to calm down a bit.

You better get her under control now cause it sounds like to me she is going to be judgemental with everything you do when it come to the baby.

I think while pregnant I paid the mortgage on the Chinese place down the street. Eating unhealthy every once in a while is fine Hell Doctors even encourage it sometimes. Ur mom needs to relax and u should be smart enough to know what is good or bad for u. And if u are to concerned than talk to ur Dr and they will be able to tell u everything u need to know

That is the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a long time. I am a Registered Nurse and Doula. What reasoning did she give for it? Pregnant women need extra calories and nutrients. If all you ate every day was a container of chocolate fudge frosting, that would be a problem!

Ok, so there was a study, can't remember who did it, and it said that mothers that ate chocolate during their pregnancy, in moderation of course, tended to have happier babies. I ate chocolate with all five of my pregnancies and had five amazingly happy and easy going babies. Chocolate isn't bad for you or the baby as long as that isn't the only thing you are eating. :-) enjoy!!

What I would do is tell my mother to calm down. What you ate is NOT going to hurt your unborn baby. I have had two children & if I asked my OBGYN this question she would have laughed (not to be disrespectful) because she would've thought I was joking. Please don't feel bad. You did nothing hurtful or wrong or bad. Hugs!!!!!
