I had a natural birth 1st then an emergency c section for the 2cnd. I would never recommend a c section to anyone!

My first was a c-section. She turned around a week before my due date, so, she was a breech baby. My second one was a VBAC (vaginal birth after ceasarian). The most and easiest way to give birth. I was able to walk in less than an hour! My third was again a c-section. My doctor got scared into making me have a natural birth since my incision from my first c-section was pretty low and might burst. What of you?

All 3 of mine were c-sections. I loved it! Never went into labor at all with any of them and the dates were all planned ahead of time!

I had an emergency c-section after 38 hours of induced labor....I was 10 days past my due date and my son was 10pounds and 12ounces......when i have another child i will have to have another c-section, cuz my son was stuck after 38 hours of labor and they had to cut my uterus horzontal and verticle, and pull him out by his legs....in the end everything was good, he was not hurt and i was ready to go home on the 3rd day.....the doctor said that i recovered really fast, but i guess its all about your attitude with your recovery, i don't think that it was very bad......but i have had some friends that have had c-sections and they have had a longer stay in the hospital and didn't feel ready to go as soon as i did......i don't know if i would recommend a c-section, but i wouldn't recommend 38 hours of labor either.....

Natural childbirth
I was blessed I had 2 healthy children 10 years apart(1st 7lbs 13 oz the second one 8lbs) no complications no pain medication needed. (My husband rubbed my lower back during the birth ) I was in a semi sitting position instead of laying flat on my back.

I had a c-section with both of my children and although rough the first time I couldn't see myself going thru labor to push a head out.....sorry but I'm happy :-) And I enjoyed my children all the same. I think ur tired from pushing just as being tired from drugs of c-section. It didn't hinder breast-feeding or anything.

C Section with my first, because after 10 hours of labor, I only dialated 1 more cm than I went in (went in at 1cm, 3 days after due date and was induced). This last pregnancy with my twins, I had opted for a C Section, just because I would NOT dialate throughout the pregnancy, and didn't want to end up having one, after hours and hours of labor. I don't think i'm able to deliver naturally...I just don't dialate...sad times :( I wish more than anything I could have had at least one pregnancy end up with a natural birth! I would never CHOOSE to have a c section though!

i had a scheduled c-section, my son was breach and they did a version (which is something i wouldn't even WISH on my worst enemy) and he flipped back less than 8 hrs later. i guess he didn't like being upside down. =)

I had a c-section with both my children, did not find them any problems, my first had to be a section as my daughter had been in breech position since 20 weeks, the hospital turned her and she spun back to the original position, so i had to have a section and unfortunately she was born with dislocated hips due to be turned. My second child was also a c-section as he was 13 days late and the hospital found my womb tilts to the left and he did not want to come out, so had to have another section. the only after effects are that my belly overhangs now but i can live with that.

That really is such a personal question! I believe every mommy wants a healthy baby, which sometimes means giving up the birthplan desired. But some mommies are willing to take different risks...every birth has its risks and I believe mommy (and daddy if involved) need to do what they feel most comfortable with.

We chose home births for each of ours, although that decision was not made until labor was well under way and going well. I had challenges with each of them, but an incredible support team, and all three of our little ones were perfectly healthy!

Sometimes, though, all the "rights" just go wrong and nothing mommy or the doctors do can change the situation. I applaud every woman who brings (or attempts to bring) a life into the world! Thank you for sharing your stories!

I had an emergency c-section after 22 hours of labor. I must have lucked out because my recovery from the surgery was pretty quick so it did not interfere with spending time with my daughter. If we have another I will do a repeat c-section as it will be the last one we have and I will have my tubes tied at that time.

Unless the baby is measuring over 11 lbs, or you are a SUPER petite woman with VERY narrow hips, baby size is NOT a reason to have a c section! My daughter was 9.8 lbs and I pushed for 50 minutes and she came out with no intervention. I did it naturally, no pain meds. I'm not a huge person, and pushing her out was not easy, but I did it and so can most women. Question everything the doc tells you. I had an Ob with my first son and it was horrible! I had my daughter with a midwife and it was like night and day. My best advice for any new mom-to-be is to look into midwifery. I will always regret not doing so with my first.

c-section all they way!!! My first child I went through 14 hours of torturous labor only to have the delivery nurse say that I was pushing wrong! We later found out our precoius child had a growth disorder that makes his bones grow 2 years more rapidly than normal children. My other 2 kids were c-section (my second did not want to progress and my third child I got to choose a c-section. My body did not bounce back from natural childbirth very fast. I did much better with a c-section and a 3 day stay instead of a 24 hour one!

I had a natural birth. I was in labor for amost 2 days. My water broke on Feb 21st around 10pm and I never had him til Feb 23 at 12:17 am. His due date was Feb 25th.

My labor was awful. I was suppose to be induced on the 23rd. I had an epidural which pretty much didnt help when I needed it too. Of course, the drs wouldnt give me the epidural til I was 4 cm. I also had petosen to move things along. I had a fever and the Strep B. The drs didnt give me a choice with having a c-section. The only choice was either use forceps or let the pain meds wear off. I chose the forceps. I also had to get cut.(not pleasant) The baby was in NICU the whole time. The next few months after the birth were awful. Had to use the sitzs bath. (When do you get a chance to do that with a newborn) I also had to have a DNC (2 months after he was born since there were still peices of the placenta still inside.)

I thought of having another baby but after all of the problems I am not so sure.

I have three childen and through the grace of GOD had three natural child births. I did not like that idea of all the medications and the possible side effects. Pain wasn't a big issue for me because I have a high tolerance. My labors ranged from 23 hours to 1 hour. The last one was so quick, I couldn't have had an epidural if I had wanted one anyway....LOL.

I have 4 children all natural no drugs of any sort....I felt that was best because it gave me an opportunity to fully participate in my labor...Also i didn't want my babies to be loaded with those drugs from the medication they give... Not saying its a bad idea but it just wasn't for me....

I had my wee girl au naturale using hip sway/rocking, massage (from partner-poor bugger massaged me for four hours straight at one point) to get through the contractions, breathed on the oxygen/gas for some parts, hopped in the warm birthing pool for an hour, then got out and delivered her on the bed. 8 hours all up. Was offered two stitches as had a small tear near urethra and stitching would heal it faster apparently. I definitely hit some high notes as she crowned but i was (and still am) so proud of myself and thankful that i had an uncomplicated birth.

My first child was due on Friday. Started having back labor pains. Finally on Sunday night at midnight I started have contractions. Went to the hospital and was admitted at 5am. (Had to be in hard labor before I could be admitted) Had my daughter at 1pm. They had to use forceps and I had an episiotomy. With my second daughter I went one week past my due date, was admitted into the hospital at 6am, they broke my water and I had her at 115pm. With my third child, he was breach and stayed that way so I was scheduled for a c-section. I have had the pleasure of going into labor, being induced and having a c-section. My recovery from my first was probably the roughest just because of the tearing. The c-section was a breeze as far as having the baby. However, I had a horrible first night because when they closed me up, there was a lot of gases inside. I hurt so badly from gas pains that first night that I cried all night. The recovery was longer with the c-section just because it is a major surgery.

Very quick (8 hours, and only 2 REALLY painful ones) excruciating all natural delivery. No gas, no epidural, just endurance lol. My little warrior came out screaming and so was I. lol. Im very blessed to not have any complications so I could have the labor I wanted.

I have had 2 c sections the first was the day after my sons due date as the littlle monkey had turned around the surgery was ok but the morphine after was awful and made me so sick that i couldnt hold my son the first day, 18 months later i had a planned c section with out any morphine and felt gr8 they said i could go home the next day ( tho i waited til i had established breast feeding) and on day 3 i took my new baby son with his brother to toddlers never felt better, I think its too easy to pass judgements on things and every1 should do whats right for them and their familys een if others dont agree!

I had to have a c-section because my son was frank breached. as much as I enjoyed knowing I didn't have to go threw hard labor healing from a c-section is not that much fun plus I pulled a muscle in that area 3 days after my surgery. no matter which rout you go there's pain involved but with a c-section its 6 to 8 weeks. if you don't have to have one i wouldn't

I was induced and ended up with forceps and 4th degree tear with first delivery. Took forever to recover from the tear. With second, had planned c-section. Although the tear caused a long recovery and some permanent damage, I still wouldn't recommend a c-section if you can avoid it, especially for the second child. It was very hard to care for a 2 year old and a newborn after abdominal surgery.

but i ended up having none as by the time i got to hospital i was almost fully dilated.

my son was 4 days early.he was also back to back .. which made it even more painful and hardwork but i just about managed without any pain relief .. i was brave.lol. anyway once he was out the pain went away

hi! i've had both. with my eldest i had a 'natural' birth, tho i had an epidural, episiotomy, and forceps! i also had to have a blood transfusion afterwards and was in hospital for 5 days. this was mainly because my daughter was facing the wrong way! (back to back) when i fell pregnant again, i was still going to have a 'natural' birth (tho was also determined to have an epidural asap!) i was 14 days overdue and went in to be induced and then they realised baby was breech. they recommended an emergency C-section, and i agreed, mainly because i didn't want another traumatic birth experience and also because it was safer for me and baby. i still wish i could have had a natural birth with my second, and for a while it upset me when i didn't, especially when people said i'd taken the easy option! a C-section is a major operation and not something you should enter into lightly. tho i was only in hospital 2 days and recovered quite fast, i know other mum's who it took a lot longer! not that i'm planning on having any more, but if i did i would definately try to do it naturally because it is an amazing experience despite the pain. but C-section are by no means the 'easy' option! :)

I have had three big boy all about 9 pounds, the first one I was terrified and being scared inhibited my birth. I ended up using lots of pain relief, the second I only used gas, and the last was in a birth centre in a birthing pool. It does hurt, but the more you focus on the pain the more it hurts. As someone else said as soon as you have your baby the pain is gone, with a c section you have a longer recovery time.
