Do babies go through a 1 year growth spurt?

Babies can go through growth spurts at any age but they generally grow few and far between after a while.. Some after a year, some after 2. Just depends on the child. It sounds like he's going through a 1 year growth spurt. My son is like that too when he hits a growth spurt (he's 17 months). Though if he doesn't start sleeping more within the next week or two, I would contact a doctor and make sure there's no medical reason for him eating so much. But it's probably just a growth spurt.

I asked my sons pediatrician about growth spurts and when children usually go through them, his response was that my son would be going through a growth spurt until about age 18. lol, so I guess they don't really happen at a certain age! My son is four now and there are days he eats a lot and days he's not very hungry, I think that's just how most people are!

I agree with Veronica--my son is and does the same thing, is a bottomless pit for a few days then goes days where I have to remind him to eat! He'll slow down, eventually :)

Babies go through growth spurts all the time. So long as you are not forcing him to eat he will only eat when he is really hungry. The food he is eating may not fill him as well as the breastmilk. Just keep feeding and enjoy watching him grow and develop. You are doing great!!

My son went thru one at 11mos, growing 3" in almost a month! But then his first-year molars came in slowly, causing a ton of swelling, and all he'd eat for 2mos was applesauce. It all balances out :)

My little girl will be a year on the 17th and she loves to eat too:o) She's been on whole milk and "real" food since she was 9 months and she likes to eat! New tastes are yummy:o)

Yeah, a 1 year growth spurt is possible. My son is almost 3 years old and has phases where he will eat and eat for days and then all of a sudden he won't eat very good for a few days. My greatest growth spurt, that I really had to laugh at, because i didn't notice any difference in his eating habits, I was putting his pjs on and his shirt looked like a belly shirt and his pants where like capi pants, LOL, and he had just wore those same pjs the week before and they fit fine. But back to your concern, I also give my son a multivitamin a day(I started with the infant vitamin drops around 1 year) and on the days that he wont really eat, I give him pediasure to drink Just so I know that he is getting the needed vitamins and minerals that he needs.

He's probably just a pig. lol My son is :-))))) As soon as I introduced "real" food to him he keeps eating and eating and eating. I think he just likes how it tastes. I usually have to take his plate away to indicate to him that he's done. As long as he is growing normally and doesn't seem to have a weight issue, I wouldn't worry too much lol.
