My daughter isn't nursing so I have dried up. Do I need to wean her onto formula? I'm about to be out of pumped breast milk.

I pump and bottle feed my son. It seems like alot of work at first but I find it's easier for me. Other people can feed him and I can get a break if I need to. To bring up the supply pump even when it doesn't seem like anything is coming out. Even adoptive parents can breast feed if they pump enough to get their milk supply going.

If you want to keep breastfeeding you can bring your supply up again by pumping more often and feeding more often. If she is reluctant to feed, you might want to contact a lactation consultant - a board-certified lactation consultant.
If you decide to put her on to formula, it shouldn't be a problem, as it sounds like she's used to the bottle already.

It depends how much pumped milk you have left....are you saying you still have SOME milk left in your breasts, or you have some stored? If you have it stored, then it depends what you have left, but if you don't, I would try doing 50/50 for a 3-4 days, just to allow her stomach time to adjust, and see how she goes.

she will latch on, but falls asleep and always come off. Then there are days she won't latch on at all. I've just been having to pump. Pumping to just give it to her out of a bottle is a lot of work. I've met with location 3 times.

Do a little bit of half half if you don't have much pumped milk left, but at her age, I don't think you will find too many problems with her taking the formula.

Also how to wean her? A couple days? Or a couple feeding?

Oh, ok, I wasn't sure what you meant. You can certainly continue to feed her whatever you have pumped until you run out, but then it must be formula. You might want to have a chat to your doctor or health nurse (depends where you live). Do you know why she won't nurse? Because if you WANT to keep breastfeeding, I am pretty sure a lactaction consultant could help you.

She is almost 4 weeks. I wasn't sure because in the hospital she went from breast milk to formula. But since about a week old its been just breast milk just out of a bottle.

How old is she? If she is under 12 months, then yes you do.....
