I am a nanny and I was not asked about TB. I was asked for FBI and Child Abuse clearances, as well as a background check. I was required to get a TB test when I was employed at a daycare, though. I don't think it's typical of nannies, but certainly not out of the ordinary. If you do decide to request a TB test, it should be at YOUR expense.

Hi Kara
I would get the nanny tested. If you are someone that works with children you should have it done. I know that when you work in a daycare centre you need to have it done. Always better to be on the safe side.

We are looking around for one right now and talked about this very issue. I've been told that you don't necessarily have to TB test them yourself, but it is important to make sure that they have been TB tested in the past. I guess it would be tough for them to be TB tested every time they apply for a job. :) I hope this helps...
