do u ever stop producing milk??

You need to avoid stimulating your breasts eg, sex(touch and rubbing), warm shower water on them and rubbing them your self if they feel sore. Maybe you should speak to your doctor or child care nurse, I only breast feed for the first few days but it still took a 2-3 months for the to get back to normal. I also started using contraceptive pill again I'm not sure if this also helped.

Make sure to check with a trusted doctor as this may be a sign of a medical condition. Make sure you are not getting any breast stimulation, even bras or other clothing that may rub back and forth. I breast fed 3 of my 4 kids, only had trouble with still producing when no longer breast feeding was due to uterine/ovarian health conditions. Good luck to you.

sounds to me like you quit breast feeding too soon. most wait until they go dry to quit. first time I have ever heard a mother say was too painful and MESSY. think best thing you can do at this point is ask a doctor instead of Circle of Moms about this problem. wish I could have nursed my babies, bond closer with them than bottle fed babies.

I stopped when my son was 13 months old. It took about a week for them to dry up. They hurt a lot, but wearing cabbage leaves under a maternity bra wasn't exactly part of my professional appearance at work, so I just kept wearing nursing pads for that week. After, though, there are rare occasions when stuff leaks out (like occasionally after my husband and I have sex!). I've been told it's normal to have some fluid leakage here and there for a few years after parenting. If you are having a lot of it still producing, you may want to check with your doctor or lactation consultant; likewise, you should make sure there isn't something you are doing to continue to produce, like too tight of a bra which may be putting pressure on some glands (I'm just suggesting ideas for you, never actually heard of that!). With anything though, if something about you concerns you, go see the doc!!

it has taken me 18months since i stopped breastfeeding for the milk to dry up. you can go to the doctors and get a course of medication or an injection to stop the production. have heard some people take up to 4 years to stop leaking completely. dont massage the area as it may stimulate milk and also no hot water over them. talk to a midwife or naturopath and they will give you something to help

i had soooo much milk, i fed my son every 3 hours and either pumped every hour or just left it (it was very painful and uncomfortable because of the amount of milk i was producing) i havent pumped or breastfed for over a year and i still have milk. luckily it doesnt drench my clothes as soon as i put them on like wen i was feeding (there was so much coming out it went straight thru pads, bra, shirt and jumper in a minute)
but i was told by the nurses wen i had my son that if i didnt eat properly and keep feeding or expressing my milk wud "dry up". is that true cos it hasnt happened with mine

I dont know, but I am currently trying to stop (my son is now 7 mths) and have gotten to where I pump only once every 12 hours for relief. My first week I was spraying milk out everywhere after only a few hours, but the flow is now decreased significantly but I dont know if it will stop completely.
I figure its not a bad idea to pump once a day just to keep the flow just in case I might need it later on- I think I have enough milk to last till hes a year old, but you never know.

Every woman is different. A lot run out of milk early, while some find it difficult to stop the milk flow. The doctor will probably tell you to use cold ice packs on your breasts and to have as little stimulation to them as possible to stop the milk flow. However, it is physically possible to keep the milk flowing for years... This video is a bit disturbing to me, but I thought i'd share it w/ you.



If she was able to keep it flowing until the girl was 8 yrs old, then I guess it's possible (unless this video is fake which you never know these days)

I stopped breastfeeding my son at 6 months.. You can bind your boobs to stop the milk supply from coming in. It takes a week or so to happen. I used cabbage leaves over my nipples put a bra on then got a tenser bandage to bind my boobs up tight but not to tight where it hurt me. It worked in a week. I can't remember what the cabbage leaves are suppose to do but it worked great.

I am not too sure about that, I would think your breast would eventually dry out, have yours? I was told in order for you to not get an infection or anything to go wrong with your breast you would need to put cold packs on your breast, if you decided to no longer breastfeed and your still producing milk. I breastfed until I went dry, I was not in much pain but all woman are different I worked off my calories and loved how well it was working but I will admit it was a lot of work.
