My little girl screams and cries everytime she does a poo and for about 10 mins after whether its firm or runny. Has anyone else had a baby that does this? Why do they do it and how do you help them? The paed said she may have a rectal fissure but shes been like this for a month now

I should mention that i have just discovered several tears around her anus so that explains it. Just trying now to help the poor lil thing.

Yes she definetly has the redness around her anus. Also maybe I should mention that its been about a month since shes eaten any solids. She started off eating really well and once the pain started shes refused to eat any food. She is still drinking well though so at least i know shes not starving
Its so good to be able to hear from someone that knows what its like. Thankyou

It was nasty, I remember him screaming and I'd be on the phone to emergency crying for help because he wouldn't stop :(

If your little one doesn't improve over the next week or two (she should if it is a fissure) then have her checked.

The one tell tale sign with my son was a slight redness around the anus.

Thanks guys, no he just said it could be an anal fissure. Doubled her losec dose to help her SReflux and gave us two diff formulas to try Pepti Junior and Neocate. But only one 400g tin of each. On the Pepti she had a bm with no pain and didnt need to sit over the pottee to go. On the neocate she only had one bm and she screamed just like before. I dont see how a formula change would help and am not sure if its just a coincidence it happened that way. But the Pepti also made her very sicky so much so she couldnt sleep so thats a no go. And the neocate releived all other symptoms so im gonna ask today for two more tins of it to give it a good go. I did some research on helping them heal and have read that a sitz bath is a good home remedy so I guess we'll try that in the meantime untill we see him again in 3 weeks. Ooohhh a strep infection, that sounds nasty

When my son was about 2 1/2 I had this problem......it turned out he had a strep infection around his anus. Apparently it is rare, but it took about 3 months before we solved the issue, and it was a nightmare, so I do feel your pain.

Have the doctor do a swab test to have it sent off to pathology to test for it. Has he done a swab test yet?

I havent had this experience but it may be some sort of digestive problem where it hurts her soft or hard. I would def take her to the doctor to have it checked poor lil thing. Good Luck!!!
