What should I do? my 5 month old will only sleep in her swing during the day! If were on the car she will sleep but will wake up instantly when the car starts moving!! I've never seen a baby so small not sleep in your arms, I never had this problem with my oldest she always slept in my arms.My 5 month old is now getting too big for her swing, should I put her in her crib and let her cry it out????

i would just let her cry it out-make sure you go in like after 10 min or so and let her know your still here. my daughter did that around 3 months. and eventually, i just weaned her out of the swing so she didnt "neeed" it so much. now she gets it if she gets cranky or whatever, but shes gotten to the point where if i take her out n put her in the crib she'll go back to sleep in a few minutes

This is a tough one... Everyone said my baby girl would stop crying ten mins or so into me putting her in her crib. But she just cried and cried and cried..She is 6 months old now and goes to sleep in her crib just fine for naps and on a nightly basis. We moved the rocking chair into her room, and set up an over head crib mobile that plays music, and has lights. I used to sit and rock with her until she was just about passed out. Then lay her down and turn the mobile on. If she was sleepy enough the mobile could distract her from being angry with me for putting her in the crib. After a few weeks it started to go smoothly and there wasn't much crying or protesting! I guess they just need time to adjust to the new bed time routine. Hang in there and best of luck!

I just read a book the baby whisperer solves all your sleep problems. It helped me teach my daughter to fall asleep by her self in her crib. I couldnt do the cry it out. Its so hard, it makes you start to cry:( I just put her down in her crib and tell her "its time to sleep, your just going to sleep, i will see you when you wake up." If she cries I pick her up and settle her down, holding her no longer than 2 min, then I do it all over again until she rolls over and falls asleep. You could try it. Its hard. I just try to be consistent and patient. Good luck

Tricky one. We had a 2 month bout when ours was 5-7 months where I could only get her to sleep during the day by taking her out in the pram ... for up to 3 hours. I tried the crib every day and, after about half an hour, packed her up and went out. But she suddenly grew out of it again when she became mobile. Other friends had similar problems with girls - but none of my friends with boys had the problem. Strange.
