Jordan Essentials Body Butter or the Lotion Bar works. You can get scented or unscented products. Our products are all natural with no mineral oil or alcohol.

Well I don't know if you have found a solution but here is another idea....My 6 year old son struggles with it on his hands & legs.  We have found that it is not helped by any one thing...eczema is actually an internal struggle often due to some mild allergy to a food product.  The creams are just a bit of a band aid to make them feel a little better.  I use a 1% cortizone cream along with rotating many different creams....Weleda for extreme dry skin, Ahava's Dermud cream (not the lotion), Aquaphor, Bert's Bees Hand Salve  these are our top choices.  It will also help to find the source of the irritation....dairy we try to keep to a minimum.  Also remember to keep baths short..they actually remove moisture from the skin..and if you have forced air heat have a humidifier in the room.  I'm sure you see the skin being actually better in the summer..I see the difference in my son.  I know it is a lot but following all these things has truly helped ease the itch.  Let me know if any of this has been of any help.

Best regards,

Denise

My entire family suffers from eczema. Luke warm showers help ALOT. It's also important that you lightly pat them down with a clean towel after their shower. Try your best not to take away the moisture from the water. I find that AQUAPHOR is REALLY GOOD and also EUCERIN. They're pretty pricey and definitely greasy, but you'll see the difference in a week. Also, avoid polyester clothing and go for 100% cotton and use FREE detergents. I've also heard a lot of stuff about MUSTELLA.

Try the SpectroGel kids Eczema care body wash and moisturizer.  Much better than any other product I have tried.  And also try to supplement your child with cold liver oil, Carlsons is the best. It's supposed to help nurish the skin from inside.  Good luck!

My son had excema (and still gets outbreaks). If you don't want to get a prescription form of Hydrocortizone (which you can only use for a few days and no more than 14 days in a month), I would suggest Hydrolatem (not sure of the spelling). Most major drug stores carry it -- you might want to check with the pharmacist becuase my drug store keeps it behind the pharmacy. It's about $10 for a tub, but it lasts for a few months and is VERY hydrating. Another alternative is Aquaphor, which I usually use on is face. It is just a very thick, concentrated petroleum jelly.

Tissue Salt number 7 is fantastic - it cleared my 5 year old's eczema (which occurs behind her knees) in a couple of weeks.

Aquaphor and Eucerin worked for my boys. They can be pricey, and I have found that the store brand or generic brand work just as well!

I agree with Kim. The Arbonne baby line is GREAT. The lotion works so well and did not bother my son's skin. When I use it regularly there are no flare ups of his eczema. The only other lotion that has worked as he got older is the Aveeno in the tan and green bottle. Also stay away from Tide detergent - they changed the formula and it started making E's eczema come back.

Depending on how old your child is, you can try the Aveeno oat meal bath. After a couple of days I really noticed a difference with my daughter.

My niece has eczema really bad and gets it from my mother in law who has always fought with her skin.  They both use Eucerin anti-itch lotion and the soothing kind too.  My niece who is 8 is really soothed by it.  It is a little more than the normal lotions but worth it.  Hope this helps.

I used cetrabem which is a petroleum based cream which works well, or if you prefer there is a 'pure potions' balm which also works but is better for small areas as it's a bind to apply too much

We had the biggest problem w/ that w/ my son who is now 3 and still has it flare up from time to time. What works the best and was recommended by our Pediatrician after trying many things is just simple ole vasoline. I know it sounds wierd but it is true. Also don't put any baby lotion on the face just that. We tried Burts bees for babies, aveeno, eurcerin, but I am tellng you that worked the best!!

OK,so I'm not going to read all the responses to see if there is one similar. Our doctor recommended EUCERIN original. It comes in a short round white container with blue writing. You can find it at Walmart or any drug store/grocery. He says it is quite benign and thus can be uses on babys. It cleared up our baby's skin in about 2-3 days. Now she is softer than ever! Hope that helps...

You will need to use creams without fragrance.  Cetaphil is highly suggested.  My daughter has eczema on her elbows and parts of her legs, mainly around the knees.  We have also found that CVS brand cream works very well also.  As long as the first ingredient is water, and it is fragrance free, you should see a difference.  We also tried the Aveeno products and were not impressed.  Good Luck!

You could try Aqueous, Diprobase or Doublebase Creams.  Either of the three should work fine.

Cortizone cream works great for my daughter who has asthma. Rub it in after a shower or bath and even throughout the day as much as 3 times if possible. Also, Arm & Hammer medicated powder works well too. Hope this helps you!

My grand-daughter had eczema badly, eventually my daughter took her to a homeopath, who prescribed drops, although this method takes a little longer for a result, my grand-daughter is completely clear of the eczema and has been for 6 months. it seems the regular lotions and creams only work symptomatically, as opposed to the homeopathic method that treats and stops the cause, working on the bodies natural cortisoid production. Hope this helps.

My 3 boys all had eczema (quite bad). I didn't use anything, just kept it clean and dry, but my stepdad who is a dermatologist told me not to use soap at all on the body and to use a mild washing powder. It worked for me.

Eucerin Dry Skin Therapy lotion works great. You can buy it at any convenience store or grocery store. Put it on after baths. Put it on every night before bed, if you do baths every other day. Put it on sometime early in the day, if needed. As long as you do it daily - completely coating everywhere except hands (unless he/she is going to bed-because of rubbing eyes or putting hands in mouth) and not around eyes - you should be good. Ivory bar soap is good too. Aveeno never worked for my son either. Keep it simple so you keep up with it daily. Prescription Hydrocortisone Ointment 2.5% works great for bad areas (cheeks, wrists, ankles, feet, behind ears, lower back on left and right side, knees). If you do use this, put it on first, then put Eucerin on.

I've had eczema break outs off and on most of my life. I still have quite dry itchy skin but it was awful when I was younger. I now have it mostly under control. I'm not sure how old your little one is but was it due to a switch from breast to formula/food. If she has any dietary allergies (often even mild ones) and if she is lacking anything in her diet like particular vitamins and minerals it can show on the skin. Also as a note I have used cortizone and it has helped as a quick fix but it should be said it's a topical steroid and it thins the skin and makes the skin hyper sensitive to the sun so don't use for extended periods without looking at other options.

That said here is a number of things you can do that may help. First consider a filter for bath and drinking water. Most tap water has flouride and clhorine and other stuff in it- all irritating to the skin. By filtering I mean buy a charcoal filter that removes most of the harsh chemicals and minerals from the water. Brita and Pur have ones that attatch to kitchen taps in the $50 range. Also know hot water is irritating as well so keep baths just warm. Next look at the soap you use. Go to your health food/products store, i'm not sure where you live but i'm guessing there's something near you - Whole Foods is a chain that's great. Get a chemical free all natural bathwash that's plant derived and biodegradable. Rule of thumb for food, house and body products (imo) should be if the list of ingredients seems really long and you have trouble pronouncing them or knowing what they are move on.... Buy a soothing lotion the same way ; colloidal oatmeal, aloe, vitamin e, and lavander are all good ingredients for soothing eczema that you can look for in soaps and lotions and you don't just have to have eczema to use them. Next look at the stuff you wash your clothes in. Buy an all natual laundry soap/Biodegradable derived from plants not chemicals. (same rule about ingredients applies) You can also consider occasionally not using soap in the lighter laundry loads and just washing in water. If you do CHECK OUT how much suds still comes off your clothes and was just lingering in the fabric. Also I would throw away fabric softener (liquid or sheets) and get the dryer balls for your dryer. The chemicals in fabric softener are brutal.

All the best !!!

Our little one suffered quite badly. I've stopped using fragranced soaps and creams. We use Epizone A cream before and after a bath, works wonders. He also went for two kineseology sessions which really helped. If he has a flare up the Weleda excema cream also works well and if nothing else works Advantan cream, but I don't really like to use it as it is a cortisone cream!

My baby girl had mild eczema for the first 5 months which would flare up with the hot weather. I tried lots of things but didn't want to rely on any products containing steroids,

I was advised to stop eating certain foods (I am breastfeeding) but I still couldn't pinpoint what it was that was causing it.

In the end another mother recommended a cream called Atopiclair, you can buy it from some chemists (you may have to ask for it). It is a non steroid based cream which can do wonders, but it is rather expensive - about $40-$50 per tube.

Another cheaper option is to use the Brauer Nappy Rash cream - it is usually less than $16 a tube and contains all natural ingredients. I ended up going to a Naturopath and he made up some drops to give her before her feeds and then he advised to use the cream. It worked really well and her eczema has completely disappeared.

Good luck, hope this helps you out.

P.S - It may be better to use just plain water when bathing and if you really want to use a soap I suggest the Nutrogena soap bar (it's not really soap) it worked wonders and I used it to wash Evie's body and hair. I can't stress enough - don't use any Johnsons products as these always seem to be the trigger for skin irritations and cradle cap.

Hello there. You should probably use something that has practically nothing in it. My two kids have severe food allergies and they have very bad eczema. Vanicream will soothe their skin but not to much else. We are forced to use prescription meds to control the flare ups - Protopic, Locoid, Cloderm, among others. Try and stay away from Aquafor as that has lanolin and stay away from anything that has nuts, sesame, shea and coconut. Weleda is known to have peanut oil in some of their kid's creams.
