A host of a baby shower I went to came up with a game where she went online and found pictures of celebrity moms with their children, printed them out, and blacked out the mom's face and the dad's face so you would have to guess the celebs just by looking at the children. You number the pages and everyone takes turns looking at the pictures, and as they're passed around, you write down the number on the page and write your guess. It's fun and it's actually hard to guess celeb moms without seeing their faces! Oh, and the last picture, just for fun, was a picture of the mom who we were throwing the shower for with her husband and first child.

If you see this, leave this form field blank.

Thanks everyone for the great ideas. I did use some of these ideas and the shower was a great success. I am now a grandmother of a beautiful baby girl. Her name is Mackenzie.

I collected baby pictures of all the family before the shower and put them on a board, then the guests had to "name that baby" also played bingo.

[deleted account]

Super easy... take the first name of the daddy and the first name of the mommy and then see how many new baby names the guests can make using only the letters of the mom and dad's names. It was a good game while waiting for the mommy-to-be to arrive, especially if you have a lot of people at the shower who do not know each other...it is an ice breaker kind of game.

Hi Lyla
On my baby shower I had many interesting games, one of them was dancing and holding a spoon in the mouth and on the spoon a lemon, so the game is ti dance different kind of rythms without dropping the lemon, another one was to dress up dolls as a baby one in a short time and treatign them as a baby, anothe rone is to fill a baby bottle with any kind of juice or milk or whatever you want to put in it and drink it the faster. These are some of the games I know, if you need more just drop me a message.....GOOD LUCK!!

You could have everyone try to diaper a doll blindfolded. Or try standing over a jar and dropping clothes pins or diaper pins in the jar (its not as easy as it sounds). We also play a game of not saying certain words. At the beginning of the shower, give everyone a ribbon to pin on their shirt. If someone catches another person saying the forbidden word(s) (like baby, little one, whatever you choose), the person who does the catching gets to take all the ribbons of the person caught. At the end of the shower, whoever has the most ribbons wins the game. You would be amazed at how hard it is to remember to not say a certain word!!!!

Design diaper pins in the color of the baby's sex or multi color using ribbons. Give each of the guests five diaper pins. Tell everyone to listen carefully to the conversations at the shower. Anytime someone with a pin says BABY (anyone's baby) and someone hears it, the person that said BABY has to give up one of their diaper pins. This can go on while the shower is going on. By the end of the shower the person with the most diaper pins wins a prize from the Mom to be. IT caused a sensation at my sons baby shower. The prize was huge gift bsket with toilettries.

For my friend's shower, I collected 2 baby dolls and all the things you would need to dress them: diaper, pants, socks, shirt, hat, bib, swaddling blanky, etc. then have races to see who can dress their baby the fastest - blindfolded! It was so hilarious, as we had a coed shower and the dad-to-be was one of racers!

these are some of the games we played at my shower... Theres the game where each person takes a turn holding a baby doll on their hip, phone on their ear, and then they attempt to hang a basket full of baby clothes on the clothesline with clothes pins.. Its soooooo hilarious watching people do this. All the while they have to actually have a pretend conversation with someone on the phone! haha. Very fun game. Whoever gets all the clothes pinned up the fasted without dropping the baby or the phone while carrying on a conversation wins. Then theres the memory game. When everyone is ready you bring out a tray with all kinds of "baby things" on it...., (pacifier, lotion, bottle, bottle brush, nail clippers, etc) you let them look for one minute. Then take it away and see who can write down the most things on the tray. Then theres the game where you pass around baby food jars with numbers on it (so you actually know what they are) without the label and without smelling or tasting, they have to guess which baby food it is... then the person with the most matches wins. Hope this helps!!

One I found online for my sister's shower this spring involved plastic babies.  Buy small plastic babies at a craft store.  Place them in ice cube trays and fill with water, then freeze.  Give one to each guest in a cup to see whose baby is "born first."  The only requirement is they can't take the ice cube out of the cup.  The winner at this shower commited chld abuse by pouring her coffee into the cup.  You may want to add that as another no-no!

Write the names of famous mothers on a sheet of labels or on post-its. When each guest walks in the door, stick a name on her back. Don't let her know what the name is. She then has to guess who her famous mother is by the clues from the other guests.

At my shower, the hostess had me do a How well do you know me sheet and then she asked the other women to answer the questions about me, things like where did me and my husband meet, where was our homeymoon, things like that. She also throughout the shower had moms go into a bedroom and videotaped them reading a poem or singing a song for the baby, it was a really nice surprise.

Here are a few.  Using a real size baby doll, we used a Cabbage Patch, a small diaper, blind fold and timer.  Each guest is blind folded and timed to place the diaper on the doll.

Make a collage of baby items, let guests view it and put it away. When all have viewed the items, Mom to be leaves the room and all have to write down everything the she is wearing. A timed event.

In a basket place bibs, onesies, etc. and a dozen socks.  Mix well.  Each guest is timed to fold MATCHING socks. Guest with most socks FOLDED & MATCHED wins.  Note: you can decorate with all the items by placing them on a clothes line w/clothes pins.  Great way to start the games by announcing "Laundry Time".  Have Fun!

You can play Famous TV mothers. For example you would name a TV children and the guests would have to name the mother who goes with the children.

Also we printed up a paper with baby animal names on it- ex. foal or yearling is a horse

gosling is a baby goose/ there are some hard ones

GOOD LUCK

at my daugters shower we put plastic pasifers into ice cubes and then when everyone got there we put those in drinks. The first one to have there ice cube melt got a prize.

We also had a book there with pages for people to write a piece of advice or scripture on for her that she could also use as a photo album.

For my shower my sister bought a bunch of baby items (nail clippers, medicine dropper, brush ..ect) and placed them in a basket.  Someone walks around showing each person the basket.  Everyone then has one to two minutes to list the items that were in the basket.

have a nice plant/flower arrangement as a center piece.  take the envelopes from the thank-you notes and a pen and ask people to put their name/address on the envelope and place it into a large bowl.  when the party is close to an end, the mom-to-be should draw a random envelope out of the bowl.  That person gets the center piece to take home.  (The mom gets her thank-you note envelopes all filled out so that she doesn't have to do it.)

Make small bracelets out of stretchy string and large beads (or just get some safety pins, lol).  Each person gets one.  If you say the word "baby" and someone catches you, they get your bracelets (or safety pins).  The person with the most at the end of the party wins.

Have 4 or 5 wrapped prizes, a pie plate (or several if the party is large) and a 6-sided die for each pie plate.  Everyone sits in a circle, the prizes are in the middle.  For a short time (3 minutes?  5 minutes?) you pass the pie plate(s) around; when it gets to you, you roll the die.  If you roll a pre-determined number (a 1 if single birth, 2 if twins?) you get to take one of the prizes.  If the prizes are all gone, you get to take one from someone who just won one.  When the time runs out, whoever has a prize gets to keep it.

There are so many things to do!  A great web site for ideas is www.babyshower.com.  One that my MIL did for my shower, buy a package of diapers and some dry-erase markers and have each guest write something on the diapers.  Suggestions for middle of the night changes or "words of wisdom" something.  I kept several for my daughter's cedar chest.  Baby Bingo is also fun.

Hi... yep!  My favorite game that we played at my best friend's shower was the price is right game that I set up for the guests to play, using a bunch of smallish stuff from her registry.  I preprinted forms and had everyone guess the prices as I held each item up.  I had sewn sort of a duffel bag with baby fabric to hold all the registry items and in the end my expectant friend got the duffel bag and the winner of the bag got to choose one of the plant center pieces as her prize.

Good luck!

I've got a few ideas for you! 1)Get mini bottles with tiny holes in the nipples. Time the guests in who can suck the bottle dry the fastest. 2)same mini bottles filled with different white powders (small amounts) have guests try to guess what's in it. Some examples are: sugar, flour, powder, corn starch, formula, detergent, salt 3)Anyone that says the word "baby" collects beads the one with the most loses 4)pin a diaper on a baby wearing mittens and a blindfold 5)guess what kind of baby food by taste and no labels 6)Dirty diaper game where you melt chocolate candy bars in the diapers and guests have to guess what kind of candy bar it is. It's funny to watch, one of my favorites!

these should help get you started. if i think of anymore i'll let you know! have fun.

p.s. one of my friends made the cutest cupcakes for her shower. Go to Wilton.com and check out some ideas for something different.

a few games we played this past weekend:

- have photos of the mom and/or dad as a baby and have guests guess her/his age in the photos

- a variation of the baby food jars where they could do everything BUT taste it (I've also heard of putting the baby food in diapers, a la the chocolate bar game)

- classic gift bing - give a blank bingo grid to each guest, allow them to fill in the squares with what they think mom and dad will receive.  then as the gifts are opened, guests mark their squares and ... BINGO!

Another fun one is to freeze plastic babies in ice cubes and the first guest to have their baby get 'born' in their drink wins:)

At my shower, a girl wrote down different exclamations that were said as I opened the presents (I was unaware till after).  After all the presents were opened, she read it back like a story and said "Here are some of the things that could be heard the night the baby was conceived"   (eg. Oh, this is a big one, I'm not quite sure what to do with this", ....) you get the idea. Have fun!

Buy 5-10 jars of baby food, just the basic flavors, take the labels off and number them 1-10 or 1-5 on the bottom, but you need to write down what flavor is what number on a piece of paper. Give everyone a piece of paper and tell them to number it 1-10 or 1-5. Pass the jars around either with the lid off or on, your choice, and let them guess what is what. The one with the most right wins.....Have fun.

Yeah, my sister in law did this at my shower and it was a simple and fun game.  Here you go.  Pick up any tabloids with pics of the hollywood actors with their babies or kids.  Then put them together on a collage with or without the star attached.  Then have people figure out their names or who they belong to.  It is a lot of fun because you do not think to remember all of those interesting names the stars or their children have.  You can also add in the collage pics of the mom to be's kid picture, etc.  It is a lot of fun.  I hope that I have made sense.  let me know if you have any questions.

I read a great suggestion in one of my pregnancy books which is to have a mom celebration rather than just a baby shower.  Take the time to pamper the mom (and you could do this with the guests too) with foot rubs, aromatheropy, painting each other's toe nails, etc.  Also have the other women bring mom stories to share.  Hope the party is great.

Think of 10 words, all related to babies. Give each guest a paper with the scrambled letters in each word. For instance the word lapyenp = _ _ _ _ _ _ _. They would have to write playpen on the lines and so on. The first guest who guesses correctly all or most of the words wins a prize of your choice. Make sure you give a time limit or it will take forever. I would maybe give 2 minutes for 10 words.

1. If the shower is for a first time mom, bling fold her and taste test baby food in jars....who every guesses the most right gets a small chocolate gift.  2. If other children will be there, try an out doors scavenger hunt.  Wrap and hide small gifts like baby socks, wash cloths, pacifiers...who ever gets the most wins a treat.....and the mother to be opens the small gifts.  3. Name Game...Give every body a pencil and paper, tell them to write down a name for every letter in the alphabet, time them and see who finishes first.  4.Baby Bingo......take a sheet of paper, draw a bingo sheet (boxes), then photocopy it.  Give evrybody ther own sheet and tell them to fill in the boxes with baby items they think are necessary in the first 6 months (bottles, diapers, wipes, etc).  Once everybody is done filling in all their boxes on their sheets, write all the items you can possibly think of on little pieces of paper and draw them from a basket.  Whoever gets bingo first wins......hope this helps, have fun.

buy preemie diapers, put different chocolate pieces in each diaper and melt slightly in microwave. close and reopen right away. The game is to guess the name of the chocolate. It's more difficult than you think. Good choices for chocolate's are, mars, snickers, resses peanut butter. They actually look like like poo.. Another fun game is to buy about 6 baby food, take the wrapping off and start your taste testing skills to guess the flavor. Don't make it too difficult because it really is hard.
Good luck and have fun.

Give everyone 2  sm pieces of paper...on one piece have then right a question about babies or mothering ie: how much formula..blah blah...then fold it and put in a bowl. With the second piece have them write the correct answer, put in seperate bowl. Have everyone draw a piece from each bowl and read the question and the answer that they drew. You will end up with funny questions, like the formula and an answer like..call 911 and hide in the closet. It's very funny!! Good luck!

oh also there was one game where everyone gets an index card and a piece of bubble gum (kind that will actually blow a bubble) and chew it up and they have to form what they think your baby will look like out of the gum and stick it to the index card. Mom picks the best looking baby :) It was cute.

one cute one that Ive done is get the little plastic cups and put something in it like a little figure(of a baby, rattle etc..) put one figure in a cup fill it up till the figure is covered.. place it in the freezer till frozen.. then when all your guests have arrived give each of them 1 cup still frozen.. The first one to thaw out their water using their own body heat.. yells my water has broken.. they then can get a prize.. you can play that while you are doing other games or while present are getting opened as it will take a while to unthaw..

Another one is get colorful clothes pins.. everyone starts out with 5.. then have a key word like baby .. and everytime someone says baby  they loose 1 pin to whoever caught them saying baby(1st person to catch them, several people dont count).. at the end the one with the most pins wins the game..

If you want to know any more details let me know

I know of a few that were played at my shower. One is to mash up warm chocolate bars in diapers, then pass them around and have everyone write down what kind of bar was in each diaper. (sounds disgusting, but it is hilarious to watch woman with their noses in diapers that look dirty) great pictures!!
Another is to pass around baby food from a jar, take off the labels and number them. Give everyone a few popscicle sticks to taste the food. Write down what kind you think the food is. Make sure to have some of the good and bad tasting foods! You can have anything for prizes that suit your guests!
Hope this helps a little...good luck!

Give string (toilet paper works too) to each guest and they have to guess how much string it will take to get around Mom's belly.

I've also seen people do blindfolded baby food testing - try to guess what each flavour is.

It's kinda gross but it's hilarious and fun! Here's what you do:
Buy 3 Different kinds of Chocolate candy bars. (any but make sure they're chocolate)
Get 3 diapers - Number them 1 - 3.
In each diaper put a melted candy bar(haha) and don't forget to write what candy bar is in what diaper.
Give everyone a little sheet of paper and something to write with.
Pass the diapers around and they have to guess the what candy bar (out of every candy bar made - no hints) is in what diaper. They can smell it and look at it...I haven't seen anyone eat it because it doesn't look awesome melted and in a diaper. hahaha
Then they pass in their papers and you see who wins. :) We did that at my shower and it was so funny to see everyone's face. Great pictures! :)

Love the pin game, also

fill a large bowl with cotton balls, sit on the floor with bowl in front of you, blind fold and give a spoon like a plastic serving spoon each person has 30 seconds to scoop out as many as they can.

another fun thing is to have someone write down everything the mother says during the shower and then read it back like a story.

put some safety pins in a bowl of uncooked rice blind fold people and each person takes 30 seconds to try and get a s many of the pins out of the rice as possible not as easy as you think it sounds
