Isobel, your other option in the short term is to ring your court contact at the last minute & say your son is sick & can't make it. Then leave it up to them to re-organise the visit. In the meantime try to get the access reneged.

seriously...talk to a lawyer in your area. they can tell you the consequences. It may be more than a fine...it seriously could work against you.
Supervised visitation in a visitation center SHOULD be monitored by people who work there who will note the behaviour of the adult and child in order to determine whether further visitation should be allowed. your child SHOULD be safe there...but like i said, talk to your lawyer.

thanks for the comments, he has only been granted supervised at this stage and the court know about his backround but decided it doesn't matter :( but obviously if i take him to supervised then it opens up for more contact which i just won't allow and plus supervised isn't supervised in the way i thought it would be apparently you hand your child to a stranger to take them into a room full of kids and there so called fathers and their they are left.... well my son is 3 he doesn't have any concept of who that person even is. Think id rather risk a fine, ironic really as he refuses to pay maintenance

as a mother i would put the law aside to protect my child. if you feel that he wouldnt be safe at the visit then dont go. u will have to pay a price for your actions but if you believe in something you should stand by it. if i felt like my baby would be in harm no judge could make me show up for the visit with out putting me in jail. there are times in life that we have to go aginst athority that is how u get noticed and that is the only way to change the law. if your case is reexamined that would be a chance to tell the court about his charges and if any he would get supervised visits at a dss offices, do whats best for your child even if its aginst the court order.

thanks for the advice the legal system in this country is an absolute joke, my ex is a violent sex offender, it makes you wonder what you have to do to be deemed unsafe really

It will give your ex ammunition to have the custody re-examined. You can also be fined, or depending on where you are jailed.
