I am so sorry for you loss, my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your children, stay close and be there for each other in hard times. Sometimes it feels as though everybody has forgot about your loss except you but there always people out there willing to help you. I am not a religious person but I have seen first hand that jehovah witnesses are a helpful in lifting your spirits and making everthing seem more clearer and are always there to help when needed even smaller things like helping to clean or help with your baby if you need to rest-just a suggestion. food banks are great for people in need of budgeting and food. And hopefully you have family you can rely on also in hard times. Take care.

I'm praying for you. I would echo what everyone has said, but also add that I pray you have a good support system, for you and your family. People who won't brush you off but will listen, pray and just spend time enjoying eachother's company. You need that kind of provision most of all. Find a network of people that can help you make big and small decisions. Those you can trust. Find a home-based business or other job that will give you the flexibility to give your family the time they need. If you'd like a mentoring group for this I'm w/ Mentoring For Free. W/ their help I've changed so much from the inside out in only a month. Give me a call @ 509.257.2552 or go to http://tinyurl.com/ydqvblr then call me when you've read the ebook. there's no product sold, ever. We just want to help people and change lives.

I see several mom's have given a lot of options so I won't repeat them, but what I would suggest is that you call your local Social Security Administration. When you work you pay into social security so that when you get older you can receive Social Security, but if you pass away and leave dependents then they are entitled to that money. So I would call them and find out how you can claim that money, it would be something coming in every month.

so sorry to hear that. Have you signed up for soicial security because you should be able to get it if a spouse passes away. Call your nearest social security office and ask them if you can sign up with a spouse that has passed away. Sending condolences to you and your family! (huggs)

Call 211 from any local landline phone. They're a great resource. They'll give you 3 numbers that may meet your needs. Call back if you need more. They're great! Also, none of my business... but have you filed for his father's social security yet? That's your son's right & is there to help you raise him in tough times, not to mention that future holidays & birthdays would be easier with a little extra. If you don't need it all you can always put it twards your son's education or first home.
Anyhow, good luck to you and to your son.
Happy Hollidays. :)

My prayers are with you. You should contact a local church - I'm sure they will help you out. Our church has helped moms in the past with furniture, food, money, etc. I hope you get what you need and that you have family and friends to help at this time too.

Salvation Army has programs that help people, your local churches (you do not need to be a part of their congregation to get help), women's crisis centers, keep the heat (United States) Rent Bank (Canada), United Way has some programs as well to help in times of crisis, modestneeds.com, micro loans (google can help you find the one you need) companies online, local food banks can help you and have the local numbers for other places that can help.
Schools usually run a Christmas low income family charity or social services does where they give you a food hampers, Christmas presents for the family and extra help.

I would also say to check with a local church. If you attend one, ask them first. If you do not, just ask one close by. I know our church is helping out about 20 families that were unable to get things for their families.

You can call St. Vincent De Paul Society in your area, they will give you the number of your local church that will provide assistance.

check with your local red cross, salvation army, and local churches. If you have school aged children check there as well. The salvation army and my church helped us last year and it was a blessing.
