Ive just continued with giving my son the follow on milk at night before bed, and hes still continuing to sleep until 5am, so im less concerned now.
I think it was just something i was so used to giving him before his bed and i linked that with some sort of importance to getting him off to sleep. Silly Me.x

I wonder how the rates of over weight children compare to children feed any formula thicked with cereal. Good for them removing this type of product off the market.

This article explains some things:

Also, I've heard concerns on other websites about formulas like this. One concern is that formulas like this cause a baby to sleep longer and deeper, which for an infant is actually a bad thing. You do not want an infant to be a deep sleeper.. this is a SIDS risk. Babies are supposed to wake at night to eat. It's just a normal part of being a baby.

I don't know where you live, but Enfamil makes a night time formula.

Here's what it said on their website:
While some Mums have found Cow & Gate Good Night Milk helpful in settling their baby, many told us that establishing a consistent and predictable bedtime routine was more effective. So we have decided to discontinue Cow & Gate Good Night Milk and focus instead on providing mums with practical support and advice on how best to settle their baby at bedtime.

Yes its a formula you give before bed its supposed to make them sleep longer as its a thicker milk. Its quite worrying that your not told why, ive been giving my baby it since he was 6months old and im worried if there is something wrong with it as to the reason why its been taken off the market.

Their website only states this.
Cow & Gate Good Night Milk is being removed from our range and will no longer be available to buy from August 2010.
