My toddler will be 2 when my next baby is born! I will likely only need to use a double buggy for around a year so don't want to spend a fortune but I don't know whether a side by side one would be better or a tandem? Any comments on this please? I know the usual things like side by side are hard to get in & out doors & tandems are heavy to push up kerbs etc but am looking for more advice to help me decide!

I like the tandem that I have...and it's not too hard to push. I have a Graco Quattro Duo. You can find good deals at www.albeebaby.com. They retail for $280 but I got a close out pattern for only $140. That's cheaper than they are used. I would recommend checking that website for a good deal, or going to Craig's List for a used one. Try before you buy though! Alternately you could wear your new baby in a wrap (I have a Moby) and just use a single stroller for your older child still. Sometimes I wish I had a single with me because I do tend to wear my newborn most of the time.

I don't know if they have them in the UK, but I just got a Phil & Ted's tandem & love it. It's lighter weight than my single stroller & folds down smaller to go in the car. Both my hubby and I love using it, and yesterday one of our childless friends was saying that with buggies that awesome, he might have to have a kid. I did not want a side-by-side for the reason that it can't fit through so many doors. How would I get into my grocery store or go to the washroom in the mall? Too much of a pain. Good luck in finding one that works for you.

i would rather tandom so the younger child can rest and not be touch by the elder child as much. plus you will find that some tandoms the back lay down were side by side dont seem to do that so just think about it. are you in australia because the prading post online is great for that stuff. shop around because i have one in my shed for sale because around 3 months after my youngest was born the elder child decided to walk.
