My almost 6 month daughter has dry cheeks. Any idea what I could/should put on them - if anything at all?

My daughter had the same problem and an older woman at the grocery store gave me the best advice... If you will apply any flavor of Avon Chap Stick to the cheeks several times per day the dry skin will disappear. It is easy and convenient to carry in your diaper bag or purse(not to mention super cheap!). Hope it works out... she is mighty cute!! :)

You might try Aquaphor.  That's what my doc suggested for my daughter.  She had the same thing as a baby.  She outgrew the condition at about a year or so old.  She's 9 years old now, and her skin is fine, but her cheeks still tend to get really abnormally red with extreme weather conditions.

I have used pure shea butter on my son's cheeks when they get red & dry and it works pretty well.  I also use shea butter on his nose when he has a cold.

My son had extereme dry & itchy skin (face, arms & legs) we used a medicine prescribed by the Dr.  for 6 months.  If I did not put it on him it would be back within hours.  Then a friend of mine who sells "MELALUCA" products gave me some RENEW!!! Awesome- and have never had to use medicine on him since.  I also like Arbonne.  I like to use ALL NATURAL products like, Melaluca, Arbonne & Young Living.  The all have wonderful things for dry skin and is OK to put on your babies skin!

My son also had very dry cheeks when he was around 1 years old.  We thought he had a slight case of execema, however, that was not the case.  Eucerin works and we also used fce butter by CArol's daughter...it is a little thick but it kept his face soft and moisturized alll day.

i used Eucerin (sp) calming cream on my children. I also used good old A&D ointment (with out zink oxide). it works like a charm. especially when they get older and have chapped lips. It doesn't taste very good, so they don't lick their lips!

My little angel has horrible eczima all over her body(really bad this time of year.) I heard of one mom using Vaseline for cheeks(its wind burn.) However I use Extra Emollient Night Cream from Mary Kay. It cleared her skin up after two applications! I couldn't believe it-you can go to marykay.com put your zip code in and find a consultant. Its really inexpensive and 100% worth her not scratching all over. Good Luck!

Use Aquaphor...you can find it next to the lotions in the grocery store/walmart. My daughter had the same problem in the winter. I think that Butt Paste makes something too for the lips & cheeks but Auquaphor works better.

Good Luck

My daughter has dry checks too.. I have tried a couple of things but Vaseline seem to work the best. I apply a dab on each cheek every night before I put her down for the night and in the morning her cheeks are very soft :)

Aquaphor. You can get it at any walmart or Target. Use it on any chapped body part. It's awesome, odorless and I have never known anyone to have a reaction to it.

I am an Arbonne consultant and I would agree with Gretchen that Arbonne baby care products are wonderful and just like her friend I became a consultant to get the discount and tell others about the products. Our children have horribly itchy skin year round- it is worst in the winter but the Arbonne products help to keep there skin moisturized and looking good. My daughter licks her lips constantly in the winter and has a red circle around the skin on her lips- we use the rejuvenating creme on her skin around her mouth at night and the next morning you cannot tell she had any problems. I would love to talk with you more about the products and tell you more testimonials but what i would really love to do is send you a sample pack of the ABC baby products and get your reactions. Just email me at pamcarolus@butler-bremer.com and i can get that to you. You can check out the website www.arbonne.com and go under products to see more information about the products. They are natural products with no added dyes, scents, or colors, and they do not contain mineral oil which can be harmful to your skin, especially very sensitive skin. I fell completely in love with Arbonne by just using the baby products for three days and seeing a great improvement in my children's skin. Our itchiness is gone. I bet we can solve this problem also- very simply.

My daughter's cheeks were very red and dry a few months ago and I was afraid to put anything on them but I tried Aquaphor (on the lotion aisle or with diaper cream) and it worked wonders. It is an ointment made by Eucerin who I have had to use for my own dry skin so I trusted their brand. It worked wonders!! Hope this helps!

Hi Jennifer, My ped recommended Aquaphor. It has the consistency of vaseline. It has helped my son's dry skin, but I only put it on when he is either going down for a nap or bed as it will get on your clothes and his.

It is very cold and dry here too, and my kids have the same problem with dry cheeks. My Dr. told me to use Johnson's Baby Oil Gel with Aloe Vera & Vitamin E and it has worked just great. And it seems like once the dry is gone, which it does fast, it stays good for a while without having to keep put it on everyday. Great stuff, would highly recommend it. And cheap!

my son, 10 months, has the same problem. i took him to the doctor and she said to put aquaphor on his cheeks every chance i got. he was really fussy and wouldn't let me do it and it got all over the place (its like Vaseline). I went to babies r us and found a product called Mustela Hydra-Stick. Its great and didn't make a mess when i applied it. his cheeks cleared right up.

My 3-month old has the same problem.  I use both regular Johnson's baby lotion and Eucerin Aquaphor.  My pediatrician recommended just putting lotion, whatever non-scented kind I chose, but his skin is always dry.  Now that I've been putting the lotion on, usually everytime I change him, his skin is not dry anymore, and the lotion hasn't seemed to bother him.  Ask your pediatrician also, just to make sure it is dry skin, it may be something such as atopic dermatitis.  (I'm sure it's not though..)  Good luck!

My daughter suffers from excema and very dry skin, especially in the winter. Her dermatologist suggested plain vaseline because her skin is also very sensitive. Any moisturizers that have water in them (wich is most including eucerine) also have preservatives that can irritate sensitive/dry skin. Anyway, a thin layer works wonders! And plus side; it's cheaper!

2 of my three children have eczema and in the cold months, their little cheeks get bright red and very chapped. My youngest also has VERY sensitive skin and will break out from everything except Aquaphor. I love this stuff, I use it over their entire bodies after baths. It seems sticky when you first dip into the tub but if you warm it up by rubbing your hands together it gets much creamier. I also, don't dry them completly and let it mix with the water. Good luck!

I live in Colorado and we often battle with dry skin.  The best thing I have found for extremely dry/cracking skin or cheeks in actually Lansinoh.  The lanolin used for nursing.  I put it on the kids(or my) dry patch at night.. It is very thick and sticky so I only use it at night but it really works for us.  Hope that helps!  Good luck!
