due date???

I am due august 12th by my ultrasound but by the menstrual date im due 7th august and everytime i go to an antenatal appointment im always a week behind the date im sposed to be due.

they are never accurate! my dates went back to July 10th 07 when i was pregnant - my partner and i got back together around mid-late july. we knew they were wrong but they tried to insist when they do an ultrasound at 7 weeks its completely accurate lol. ive had so many friends worry about this and ask me questions especially single mothers and ive tried to explain it to them the best i can and tell them not to stress about dates so much. basically the date they give you , you conceived approximately 14 days after this, but the date is taken from the fist day of your last period. so when you are 23 weeks your baby is actually 21 weeks old. ive seen them change the weeks on people at ultrasounds. I was apparently small for dates and they were worried and sent me for a 36 week ultrasound. my baby was healthy, when she was born it proved what i thought she was prem not full term, she has that white stuff on her which is only there when they are at least 2 weeks premature. Anyway i hope this sort of clears things up for you if ive explained it right

Ultrasounds are most accurate at estimating due dates for the first 12 weeks. After that, all babies grow at different rates so the dates aren't reliable. Next time you see your OB ask her to give you your due date. Personally, my due dates by u/s and 1st day of last period were so off. I used NFP and KNEW the date of conception so my dates were perfect with that!

Due dates are an approximation of when they THINK the baby will come. It's not an exact science. With my daughter, I had the incredible moving due date that bounced all over the month of Sept. FTR, I was born 18 days after my mom's EDD. :D

I'd just ignore the due date and go w/the flow. As a friend of mine's husband said. "Babies aren't a pizza. They're not delivered on a deadline, they're born."

It can be 2 weeks either side...if you sure about your LMP then go by that! Technically if the scan says 20 weeks and 4 days than that is they date they will go by. So really you would be 3 days behind what you originally thought, but 3 days no big deal. Ultra sounds are great for anatomy and health of baby but can confuse mothers when they start talking different dates.

If you had and ultrasound at what was estimated at 21 weeks and you were told you were 20 weeks and 4 days it means you conceived a few days earlier than was estimated by you and the doctor. Don't forget due dates are an approximation....when you go into labour either two weeks early or two weeks late you are considered "term". Don't sweat it and talk to your doctor to see if you are farther along than you originally thought....he'll be able to answer the queestion once he has reviewed the ultra sound report.

Yeah don't worry too much. My original due date was Jan 22nd, after my 12 week scan they changed it to 25th Jan, then after the 19 week scan they changed it to 21st Jan... my doc made it the 24th of Jan, bubs arrived 1st of Feb. One day before I was going to be induced. I was certain of my date of conception (had been TTC after miscarriage) so the Jan 22nd date was accurate the whole time, bubs was late!) Just roll with it, the due date is just like a little light at the end of the tunnel.

i've been given three different due dates, oct 11 (from my doc) oct 12 (from midwife) and oct 4 (from my ultrasound)...so i'm thinking im gonna have a baby SOMETIME in october lol, my first son was 10 days late, so i'm not putting too much emphasis on my due date :)
don't worry about it, the baby will come when it feels like it lol

The way they calculate is: They add a week to the first day of your last menstrual period, and then they count back 3 months to arrive at your due date. Both of my children were born later though. I was always more concerned about the babies being healthy, so I left the time for their arrival in Gods hands. Congratulations! and God bless you and your baby!

when i had my first scan at 1st they said about the 30th/31st jan .. then the midwife said 1st feb .. so they said my due date was 1st feb. my son came on the 28th jan.

don't think too much of your due date .. your baby will come when its ready

Due dates can be off by two weeks either way.

The whole thing about due dates is that they are never exactly accurate. Just view it as an approximate time to expect your child.
