My son woke up last night crying for his ear. I took him to the ENT specialist and he said that he has fluid build up in his ear and he just recommended DPH. HELP!

Reoccuring ear infections are a really common symptom of dairy intollerance in children (especially if he has a snotty nose or eczema or cradle cap or get coughs often) so it would be well worth going to a naturopath for a consulatation, they'll be able to give a lot of good advice that you wont get from a conventional doctor

what is DPH ?fliud build up is whe they have a cold and fluid can start to become an infection because od bacterial growth hurts like heck but not a big deal for the most part and should be treated with antibiotics and they do have some numbing stuff for them as well my son suffered from major ear infections to the point of his ear drum bursting about 5 times the last one was right around when he was about 1 and a half at that point doc was thinking tubes and that terrified me because he would have to go under for the opperstion and I just couldnt do it but he has a really good doctor and imformed me that alot of kids have small ear canals and can seem to grow into them at around age 2 and just dont have problems again and like magic he was right at age two was the very last ear infection he had that was 7 years ago

It looks like he just referred you for a free hearing test. You do want to get that done. Fluid buildup is rather common; as long as it's not causing an infection it's not a concern. If it was causing infections they'd likely recommend tubes. Not a bad thing either, if needed. If the fluid is causing him hearing loss, he may develop a speech delay unless it's treated. If it's causing him pain, request numbing drops for his ears if you can (sometimes insurance covers it, sometimes not, but it is expensive). Usually ear infections are viral so asking for antibiotics (except when the doctor says it appears bacterial) is not good, as it can cause yeast infections and more problems overall with your son and resistant bacteria in everyone. A warm damp cloth sealed in a ziploc and pressed to the ear helps relieve pain. A slice of onion wrapped in a dry rag and put on the ear helps draw out moisture and is a natural antibiotic.
