Sure what is the harm? You just go on the hunt with him and help him "find" them. Do a small area like just the livingroom. I bet he'll be thrilled!

Go for it! A lot of kids get it at that age, you might have to help him but he'll have a blast.

Our son is also 17 months and we are doing an Easter egg hunt in Grandma's back yard :) Whether or not our son gets it, it will still be a blast, even if I'm the one doing all the hunting! We plan to color the eggs with him the night before as well! Why not?

He may not understand the whole idea of it being a activity to do on the one day of Easter, but will certainly understand that it is a fun game. I would recommend being a little careful with what items get hidden nothing too small or that could cause problems if unfound on Easter and found days later while he is alone. Love the idea from Joanna about using those big bright coloured eggs with baby trests inside them.

We did at that age. They loved it! We even did it at 10 months with one of ours. She was able to find one egg on her own, and she was so proud!

Last Easter my daughter was 19 months and we did an easter egg hunt and she totally got it!! We got very bright colored plastic eggs and put in things like Gerber Puffs and Goldfish crackers in them. She loved it!
