Hi All! My 8 month old has eczema and nothing is getting rid of it. We cut his diet back to formula, pear juice and rice cereal so we can check on food allergies again. I don't want the steriod cream as there is a bad patch on forehead and neck so I don't want him rubbing into his eyes. Aquaphor is helping but I have to constantly apply it. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I went to my daughters doc when I noticed she had some bad dry skin. She gave me some cream and also recommended me to go out and buy Eucerin. Because it is an oil based lotion. It will also help if you use a moisturizing baby lotion like huggies hypo-allergenic its in a white bottle. You put the lotion on and then the eucerin on over the lotion because it helps seal in the moisture from the lotion. And do it atleast 3 times a day. I do this for my daughter when her skin starts to show the signs of it and it clears it up within a few days. She just had some bad dry skin earlier this week and now she is all soft. Also cut your little ones bath time down to 10 minutes and give a bath once every 3 days when its bad. That is what my doc said to do with my little one.  I have never cut any foods out of her diet or anything like that but if it is helping keep it up. Good luck

Hi there Christiine, I fully understand what you are going through my grandchildren have suffered with eczema and we had tried a lot of different products and we never could find anything to completely help it. One day I came across this company that uses all natural products and we started making our our baby wipes using their awesome products and lotion and the eczema dried right up in no time. The company has been in business for 24 years and is recommended by the Better Business Bureau. For more information on using these better, safer and healthier products please visit my website and request more information at www.livetotalwellness.com/annetter

Thanks for all the replies. Many of these things I have tried. I have been using Aveeno Baby products on him as the "popular" brand really dries his skin out. The oatmeal bath soak treatment seems to be helping. I'm going to check out some of these other suggestions...many thanks! I have been contemplating the allergist.

My daughter has eczema also and has been on the steroid cream which works for a little while, but then it comes right back. We actually took her to the doctor about it last week. She said that if you use the steroid cream for two weeks and it doesn't help then come back because they will have to perscribe something else (an oral med. I think). They use it as a last resort, but my daughter is 12 and it is better than it used to be, but still gives her trouble. The doctor also recommended Aveeno Baby Moisturizing Cream (unscented). She said to use creams and not lotions and for some reason the baby formula works better than the regular. You can find it in the baby section of the store. Oh, she did say to NOT use steroid cream on you face! Hope this helps....luckily I just took my daughter to the Dr. for this very thing! I am not a doctor or an expert...just passing along what my daughters Dr. said a week ago and my own experiences. We had been using Dove unscented soap and Lubriderm which did help, we just need something more at this point. She would use the soap and put the Lubriderm on when she got out of the bath and pat dry. That was her old pedi's suggestion.

My daughter, now 3, has bad eczema.  I already used free & clear laundry detergents, but have also stopped using dryer sheets & anything with fragrance.  It requires alot of label reading but makes a huge difference.  We can use natural scents but if it says fragrance, perfum or even lightly scented I have to pass.  I use a fragrance free shampoo I get at whole foods on her.

My son has had eczema very badly since he was a year old.  I did not like the steroid creams at all as they work for the moment, but it comes right back and it is not good for the children.  I have been using Aveeno Oatmeal bath wash and lotion twice a day and it is the best it has ever been.  He just has a little bit on each elbow and that is it.  It takes time and you have to be faithful about it every day, but it works.  Good luck!!!!

Try looking at Sallyeander.com. They are an all natural soap and lotion complany right up the road from me in Central New York. you can read their story and about why they are different. The soaps are 100% natural and handmade right at their store. You might find something that helps.

My daughter has really bad eczema just like me and the only thing that got rid of it was soap from crazytimescandles.com. They are a candle and bath company and have awesome stuff that also smells really good. That's the only thing that my daughter and I can use. My dad has the same problem as well and we send him a bar or two every few months. We love it.

Hey there. My son is 4 and had food allergies and eczema that started when he was 4mths old. He was allergic to gluten, dairy, wheat, eggs. Eczema is related to breathing difficulties too such as asthma so dust mites might cause skin rashes like it did for my lil guy.You might wanna try a formula that hasnt got dairy or gluten in it. Also petroleum jelly after bathing is awesome! Turns them into lil greese monkeys but it works by leaving a protective barrier against skin. Try using no soaps in bath, i wanted my lil man to smell lovely too but i wanted him to be comfortable as well! Putting the steroid cream on his face then a smear of petroleun jelly over the top would work, cold damp cloths on rashy areas are good too coz its awefully soothing. You definatley need a appointment with a skin specialist who specialises on food allergies in kids. Dont stop til you are refered. Drs are notorious for sending you on your way without giving any real help. Let me know how you get on, i have been where you are now and know how frustrating it can be. Take care :)
