I have a couple of friends who have eczema pretty badly. Yes, it does flare up during the hotter months. My one friend used a combination of products from the Arbonne line that I sell. She used the NutriMin RE9 Anti-aging body serum (which promotes collagen growth) and lotion. They're packed with Vitamin C, too. For young kids, there is a Baby Care line and then there's the Basic Intelligence Rejuvenating Cream. That stuff is awesome! Works for burns and scars, too. You want to stay away from products with mineral oil as it's inclusive and basically doesn't let anything in or out--be it oxygen or sweat. Pores get clogged, skin irritations flare up. Check out the products at www.bizzeb.myarbonne.com. Hope you find something that works!

You need to take care of your body from the inside out.  topical creams are just a temporary relief for eczema / psoriasis sufferers.  I am not a doctor but I do know of this product that is helping eczema / psoriasis patients clear up.  It isn't available in stores, but I can help you out if you choose to try it out.   MonaVie juice.  your child would take the "original" blend.  it can get quite costly (like the prescriptions), but there are ways around getting it free.  wholesale cost is $38.00 per bottle (less if you buy a month supply*4 bottles* at a time)  one bottle lasts a week with 1-2 oz a day.  (1oz a day for a child under 12)  I know a lady who suffered from psoriasis for years and started drinking MV ... within 2-3 months it was clearing up and wasnt painful anymore.

You can read up on the juice at juiceme_mv@telus.net

I can also tell you that I have always had dry skin, and in the last 8 months of drinking it i havent had to apply moisturizers.

Shannon

I have family with many skin conditions, but my niece has the patches too. My mother tried many perscriptions, but she found that taking pure mineral oil and applying to the patches worked best for her. Vitamin e (pure not cosmetic) is also a wonderful natural skin and hair rejuvinator. Hope these help some, like it did my niece. My immediate family suffer from sceriousis (spelt wrong I know) and some are getting help from the ROCK cream you get at some pharmacies, but usually any market (flea market). good luck

I am 24 and I have had it my whole life and I have tried everything that everyone has said the best for me is a combination of things. Less water, non-fragranced lotions and soaps, Oatmeal anything works, and a tan, oh always keep the lotion your Dr. tells you to use on your self or child. But as some said everyone's is different.

My five year old son also has eczema. It was so bad I cried all the time because there was no relief for him. Now he sees a wonderful childrens dermatologist in Duke hospital. She prescribed an oral medicine to take in morning and evening called Hydroxyz. That helps with the itching. Also clobetasol Propionate ointment for really bad areas. After giving him a bath we put the clobetasol mixed with bactroban on the bad areas then we sealed in the medicine with vasoline. For his face and neck we used hydrocortisone valerate. In the first three days we saw major improvement and now its been two months and he is completly cleared. We are keeping our fingers crossed that when winter comes this treatment willl continue to work. Hope u find the cures and answers you need to help your son. From one mother who knows how heartbreaking it can be to see your child so miserable for so long.

Hi Victoria,

I have had an Arbonne business for 2 1/2 years, and since day one I have been using the ABC baby line on my daughter now 8 yrs old and have seen an amazing diffference in her eczema. There is no chemicals, dyes or frangrances to dry out her skin, the products are botanical. I have helped many children out with these products, and have made their ezcema much more managable. Go to my website to view, and feel free to contact me with any questions:-) www.DeniseMilito.myarbonne.com

Good Luck!

Both of my kids had a a touch of eczema during childhood. My daughters are 18 and 11 years. I read most of the replys and had also tried some of the products. They would most likely have an outburst during the summer months. The aveeno soap, oatmeal scrub along with raw oatmeal in their bath, I tried all. My doctor would advise me to always use dove moisturizing soap and I've also tried the eucirine lotion. You must also watch what the kids drink. Citrus plays a very big role in the onset of eczema. Citrus in any form. Fruits/drinks etc. Hope this is helpful.

hi i dont know if this has been said or not but both my kids have eczema and the best think to bath them in is some oats in a stocking cut off the bottom and put the oats in. as you wash your child it comes out like a creamy soap its great and also sooths the eczema. i leant it off a nurse who worked in elderly hostels and thats what they did so i gave it a shot. my daughter would bleed every day on her chest she was so bad. and every one would ask what was wrong with her. all her clothes stained but once i started doin this it slowed down and now she has just got a bit on her rist first time in OVER 12 MONTHS... i thank this great tip BUT REMEMBER IT WILL GET WORSE FOR A FEW DAY BEFORE IT SETTLE so dont give up.....i hope it works for you.

Yes, my daughter had eczema and it is now gone, we did not find the product until about a year ago. It is called Renew it is a lotion that has tree tea oil in it. Melaleuca company is the only one that has the legal rights to tree tea oil, they put it in everthing that they make. It is the best product ever. Call me and I will try to get you some of this product, or send you a catalog so you can purchase it yourself. My # 419-653-4832 My entire immediate family uses it. I cannot say enough good about it

I am a mother of twins and my both boys had rash/eczema all around their body. I treated them with homeopathy. The conventional doctor prescribed me with cream with steroid based and anti biotic. But I am a die hard fan of Homeopathy and I trusted my doctor who treated them and thank God they both are doing alright.

Lansinoh breast cream!! REALLY WORKS for eczema, chaffing, chapping and even sunburns. I am not one to reply to these things but found with my daughter that was sucking on fingers til bloody this past winter it fixed it in a few hours. Niece has really bad eczema and had her try it after I had such great luck with the chapping (also w/husbands sunburn) and it worked miracles. Drastic difference overnight. She's 13 and tried everything imaginable over the years, even drinking concoctions. She loves it and the best part, it can be bought on your flex spending card as medical expenses in any drug store or target in the baby section. Good luck

Hey there, my own son does not have eczema but my cousin's son had it so bad it was very sore and nothing worked and she found that the steroid cream thinned his skin. she ordered this cream off the web called' Magicream 'and within days it cleared up. She brought it to a Chinese doctor just to see could he tell her what it was made of(No ingrediants stated) he said it seemed to be natural. Since then my sister in law has ordered it and everyone she knows have gotten it. It is a miracle cream honestly., I have seen how it works for myself. It doesnt matter how severe or how mild the Eczema is it works. It costs €24 and comes in 2 small jars. I hope this helps at least one of you.

My daughter has eczema also and the doctors keep wanting to use steroids which have side effects that I don't like. We have found that CeraVe creme works well and also the goats milk creme from the company Cannus. My research also shows that using omega 3 vitamins and probiotics helps. The next thing that we are going to add to our routine is coconut oil (nutiva brand) for her head; it is supposed to really help. Sometimes sensitivities to wheat, dairy, and nuts can contribute to eczema too. I also try to use all natural products for bathing the Cannus has a good liquid goats milk body and hair soap. Nothing has made it go away, but have helped with the dryness and itching. Using olive oil can help too. Just some options to try.

My son had eczema due to an allergy or allergies that are still not specifically diagnosed. A lot of skin is allergic to all types of dyes and chemicals that we react to without knowing what is causing the reaction. There is a company called Arbonne who formulates ALL their products without mineral oil, petroletum products as well as no dyes or chemicals... completely botanical. They have a line of skin care called ABC. It is their formula for the most sensitive of skin. Not only infants can use these products but anyone of any age. There is a wash, baby oil, lotion, diaper rash cream and sunscreen. My son used (or uses when flare ups occur) the wash and lotion. Instant results!! It works! The website is www.arbonne.com. You are welcome to contact me directly and I can order it for you (at a discount) or depending on where you live you can contact a consultant in your area. There is a 45 day money back guarantee. You can reach me at dawntugman@windstream.net or (704) 821-5399.

None of my children have exzema but I sell Arbonne and they have a baby care line that has helped many children with eczema. The products are specifically formulated for a baby's delicate skin and they are pH correct. Water can irritate eczema even more because it upsets the pH of our skin. I have a couple of before and after pictures of a baby that had really bad eczema that used Arbonne's Baby line and the results are amazing. Also, all of Arbonne's products are pure, safe and beneficail and certified vegan.... I would love to help you out any way I can :)

My daughter has eczema extremely bad. The doctor for her told us to use laundry detergent that is dye free, scent free, and hypoallergenic and to not use dryer sheets. The chemicals in the laundry detergents are irritating it even more. The one I love is all natural and biodegradable. It is www.charliesoap.com. It has tremendously helped. I've also looked around for all natural lotion and soaps too. So far she puts lotion on every time she gets out of the shower and the one that works the best is the regular Johnsons baby lotion. Good luck.

My daughter has Eczema and we have a ritual at bath time. I start the water, add baby oil to the water. I use a little soap (dove) and after the bath I lotion her with Vanicream lotion (usually found behind the pharmacy counter). Vanicream is really great they even have a sun screen line. In the mornings I use the vanicream again. When my daughter first started showing signs of eczema I took her to an allergist and he subscribed MOMETASONE FUROATE lotion which took care of it. I just have my ritual to help prevent flair ups. I hope that helps.

Hello. My daughter had Eczema when she was born. It was really bad. She had it on both her cheeks. At 2 months old her cheeks were rosy red and looked like pocked skin. it looked really bad. I had to keep her had covered to prevent scratching at it. She was actually going to a dermatologist once a week. I used Aquaphor, Eucerin, which was recommended by the dermatologist, with a list of other things thet i can't remember the name of. A couple had steriods in them. So I discontinued use immediately. Nothing seemed to work. I was told to keep her out of the sun and to keep her skin lotioned. I was also told to use Cetaphil lotion (there is no Steriod in it) and also Cetaphil soap. By the time my daughter turned 1 there was no sign of Eczema. You wouldn't believe it was the same child. She is now 4 1/2 years old and hasn't have a flare up. I do make sure I keep her whole body lotioned. I still use Cetaphil and actually that is the lotion the whole family use. I honestly believe time heals it and Cetaphil lotion helps it to be tolerable and prevents flare ups. How old is your son? I hope this helps.

I have battled eczema (and very sensitive skin) since birth. I have outgrown it to some degree and have learned how to manage it so it is nearly non-existent anymore. PREVENTION is the key! For me I ONLY bathe with AVEENO Unscented Oatmeal Bodywash (off brands do not work) and apply Aveeno Unscented Lotion after bathing. With eczema it is essential not to aggravate the skin with perfumes, dyes, etc. and to keep it well-hydrated. Dryness breeds eczema. Keep in mind even the shampoo you use can aggravate the skin as it falls down the skin during bathing.

I have gone through a variety of prescription ointments/creams, however most of those cannot be used on children as they have discovered they do things like thin the skin after repeated use. Hydrocortizone OINTMENT (not cream) takes away the itch, but does not treat eczema. The ointment is more effective as it is more concentrated and aides in hydration in that form.

Different things can cause eczema...such as food allergies, other allergies, anxiety, etc. It is critical to determine what aggravates your son. Keep a log of foods, drinks, products used (laundry soap, bath products, shampoo, creams, sunblock, etc.) and when outbreaks occur to see what may be causing the problem.

I wish you the best of luck. I know how hard it can be to live with it. When you find what works for him it will no longer be an issue if you continue the regime. I know if I don't follow the routine I can see it begin to return.

My family has eczema and we found it was always a food, preservative or food colour/additive allergy. Difficult to find allergy but the skin scratch tests may help. Try purchasing a pro-biotic from a health food shop as helps digestion. I treat as for nappy rash bathe with small amount of baking soda in water (sometimes organic lavender oil in water helps too). Sometimes Olive Oil applied after bath and cornflour may help too.

A dermatologist prescribed steroid creams to "bandaid" the problem for over a year. Then we switched pediatricians and the 1st thing she suggested was to get to the cause of the problem and off to the allergist we went. I was skeptical to have him tested under the age 2. He just seemed so young.....it was the best decision.. Found out he was highly allergic to egg. Since we've removed egg from his diet his eczema has decreased tremendously. We keep him lubricated with Vaseline Petroleum and only use the strong creams if needed.

My daughter's dr recommended only bathing her once a week and avoiding too much (or any) soap on her "scratchies". Every time she gets out of the tub we use Aquaphor and just grease her up. I also use Aveeno Baby wash for her, eventhough she's almost 6. On days when she's not in the tub, I use high quality lotion. My nephew has eczema too and his mom found that using a nonscented detergent helped.

Quoting Rachel:

I have something I will completely swear by! I had eczema covering my face for years... and it finally occurred to my Mom that for some reason it got better after our summer trips to Bakersfield and Clearlake. Being from San Francisco, it was the only times that I got into the warmer climates and was able to swim in pools. I know it sounds pretty simplistic but the warm sun and chlorinated water did miracles. Eczema is, for all intents and purposes, a diaper rash. Hence the reason some would reccomend diaper rash ointments to clear it up. I always had a prescription for Hydrocortisone but the key with that is not how much you use as much as how much you rub it into the skin and how often you apply it. My Mom started putting a small cap full of bleach in my bath water and let me swim around in it, like all kids enjoy doing anyway. It really did the trick. If you're in a warm climate and have access to a swimming pool, give it a shot. Also, beware of lotions... they tend to make it worse. The idea is to dry the areas out and keep them dry.

Chlorine did it for me too, I had sever ezema on my feet as a child and every year I went to California and swam in the pool it would clear up.  When we figured it out my mom would soak my feet in chlorinated water and it did the trick.  Also found that take fish oil suppliments helps as well.

My 8 years old daughter loves to play all day long. She never revise her lessons and sometimes she will skip school with lots of excuses. In one week, she will miss classes like 1 or 2 days. Whenever, she skip schools, I try to coax her to do some exercises from the book but she's reluctant. She will spend her time sleep or play. But the positive thing about her is that she will finish up her homework even late at night as she prefers playing during daytime. I'm puzzle beacuse she contradicts to my first daughter who is so diligent. She will finish up her homework first then only venture in her other activities. Is my daughter's behaviour worth my worriness or is it normal for kids to act like this.
