My 5 mo. old son has a severe case of eczema. We've tried all sorts of things. Please if you know anything that helps, we'd love to hear about it.

Hi, I use a great product on the whole of my family called OLC it is great on Dermatitis eczema and pseriosis it does not cure these conditions but it calms it down.

The basis of the product is Coconut and Cactus milk (Yukki Cactus)

You can use it in the bath and wash there hair in, It leaves the skin at a neutral ph level of 5.5 and stops any itching reddness and flaking.

I found this product when I started my own Nutrimetics Business you can Purchase it from www.nutrimetics.com.au/terrianne but of you wait until the 24th oct i will be on special 1ltr from $11 or 5ltr for $48 its concentrated so last for ages

We really notice the difference when we have run out and Caitlin starts to itch and scratches really bad.

Hope I was some help

Hi Heather,
I've suffered with severe eczema for 40 years. My middle child, now 5, has also inherited the same gene. I wanted to "save" my child from what I endured: constant itching, bleeding, thinning of the skin from steriods, etc. So, I did a ton of research and was determined to find something that could heal from the inside out. I desperately believed we were nutrient deficient. Well, we found a food science company who's unique nutritional program is changing lives everyday. We gave it a try, and WOW! 40 years of eczema is under control and my son no longer wakes himself up scratching. He is much, much happier and healthier! We rely on Eucerin lotion and hardly use the steriod creams anymore. It's been a true blessing for us! Happy to share more.

My kids doctor said to stay away from Vaseline....it forms a barrier to your skin that won't allow the moisture from the air to get in and the dryness is all a part of eczema. My doctor suggested no baths...just showers where possible....lukewarm water and using only soap such as Aveeno which is ONLY made with oatmeal....I use Aveeno body wash and Aveeno lotion and it worked for myself and all 3 of my kids....

My nephew has severe eczema also....NO (i can't stress this enough) soap when bathing. Get Dreft (or a cheaper option is the Tide free, free All, that type of stuff) for clothes. This has helped his tremendously! And then use vaseline...the best (and cheap) moisturizer you can find (recomended by the dermatologist)

Look at external reasons like reactions to things in the environment and then look at internal things like food he is eatring and reating too, food allergies and intolerences amke up a lot of skin reactions. Yes what you eat goes through the breast milk and into their system. If he has started solid foods and that is when the excma came up it is prob food related . See you doctor and ask to be refered to a dietician or allergy clinic. My three all have excma reations to food......yuck.

My daughter developed severe eczema when she was about 12 months old. She is now 8 and we still struggle with it some. At first, the Dr. gave us RX creams and said to use Dove Soap. This rarely worked for her and the heat (we live in Miss.) caused her to break out so bad that she couldn't play outside for more than 5 min. at a time. The Dr. said to change from Dove soap to the Cetaphil bar cleanser and Cetaphil lotion. The Cetaphil bar cleanser is expensive at almost $4.00/bar from Wal-Mart but IT WORKS. I have found that the generic brand from Wal-Mart for the Cetaphil lotion works just as well and it has a savings of about $5.00 per bottle. After changing to Cetaphil products we stopped using RX creams in about 2 weeks. Good luck with your search for something that works!

my daughter suffers quite badly as she has lots of allergies that set it off, we use a base cream of cetamacrgal as a preventer and locoid ointment clears it up within a couple of days, you only need to use a little bit. do you know what causes it? it could be a type of food, heat or something he touches like plants. my daughter is three and i am now managing to keep her eczma under control

My son has severe eczema too since he was a baby, we struggle every day still. I finally took him to a dermatologist and he has him using dove soap, do his laundry seperate with hypoallergetic soap and no fab. softner, and put him on triamcinolone acetonide cream 0.1% but i don't know about a 5 month old as he said the cream is stronge. that is all i can offer in advise hope some of it helps. it is working for him now he used to have scabs all over him from it but now it is healing so i am happy.

I read an article about a study where they used diluted bleach in water, which works well. I think it was 10 minutes in the bath few times a week. You could probably google it.

Both my sons have issues with it and besides RX cream the best stuff I have found is Gentle naturals Disney Baby - Baby Eczema Cream. I got it at Wal-Mart. Dont know where else they might carry it. It is amazing. I could rub it on a breakout spot when I laid him down for bed and in the morning it would already have dramatically improved. almost no red. I hope this helps you! :o)

You poor thing. I went through all this with my son. He has severe eczema which appeared around 3 months. At 5 months I took him to a dermatologist because nothing was working, and his face was so red and peeling, he looked like a burn victim. He prescribed us with a moisturiser (which gets used at every nappy change) and hydrocortisone (? spelling) which I only use sparingly on the worse areas. I was very against using the hydrocortisone at first but it has been the only thing that has cleared it up. He is now 18 months and he still has eczema but we can manage it now with the creams. It appears there is no cure for eczema, we just have to manage it as best we can and hope that they grow out of it. Good luck

My son had it really bad when he was about 8 months old, then again then he was about 15 months old, and we actually used moisturizing wash in the bath, and lots of lotion on him (the eucerin or vaseline extra strength dry skin), and if he seemed itchy we'd use some lanacane, and it seemed to help. His doctor said that it's normal for babies and young toddlers to get because their skin is so sensitive and not used to different soaps/chemicals/pollutions, etc. She told us that eventually he would grow out of it, and he is now 23 months and hasn't had it since last winter when he was between 15-18 months.

It helps to get them allergy skin tested. My daughter had it bad when she was 2. The doctors would just tell me to keep her moisturized and use hydrocortisone. After much research on the internet I decided it had to be something she was allergic to. She was allergic to dust mites and dog dander. We had to find a new home for the dog and I removed all carpet from the house and cleaned the floors really well and it was like majic..it went away quickly. Of course the testing didn't tell that she was allergic to acrylic fabric but we could see a rash form when we put a dress on her made of it. Find the cause and find the cure. She was 2 then and she's been all clear for 9 years.

We use to cover our daughter in sorbelene cream and then cover her limbs where it was most severe with plastic sandwich wrap and then dress her in an all stretch suit to keep in place for a few hours. It relieved it but was not a cure
