eczema or diaper rash?

My 14 month old has had a red rash on his belly and upper diaper area for about a month. At his last checkup, his pediatrician said it looked like eczema, but it didn't make much sense to have eczema in his diaper area, since it's not dry there. He had a yeast infection in one of his fat rolls, so she said the rash was probably a yeast infection too. But the cream she prescribed (silver sulfadiazine cream) didn't clear it. So I was wondering if anyone has experienced anything like this. Basically, is it possible for a baby to have eczema in his diaper area?

ask if it is seborrhea. my son has it and yes they get it on the diaper area...use hydrocortisone 1%(Cortaid)

my daughter gets the same thing, looks like eczema but it's in the diaper area as well. I put grape seed oil (the kind for massage) ans it clears it right up.

my son also has it since he was six months old.....three n half now it breaks out every now n then he also had it in diaper area as long as no rash appears on his penis , no need to worry ...he has prescription for topical corticosteroid but it actually flares it up....the only thing i do is avoid dryness of that area and after showers give him a good oil message specially in winter.....i does work for my son and i have done this for three years ....no med is good med for eczema personal experience......cause there is no cure for it streoids only superfacially remove it.....his ped. also suggested to only use in time of extreme need otherwise just let it go away on its own ....also it is very possible for kids who get it at v young age it will hopefully go by the age of five or six or atleast will be much much reduced.....i see the difference but everyone is different.

Try 0.5% hydrocortisone cream 2-3 times daily in the affected area. My son has eczema as well and so do I. You don't need a lot of cream, just a bit. Should start clearing up after a couple days.

instead of going to dr's for yeast infections.. go to rite aide and grab some jock itch cream. worked wonders for my 3 month old.

Oh, I should have mentioned that he has had eczema since he was about 6 months old. He has it pretty much everywhere else, but in his diaper area it's really red and dry. I have tried the prescription anti fungal cream (almost 2 tubes of it) but it didn't clear it, and I'm afraid it just dried the skin more.

it is but usually starts behind knees, elbows, face.. which is how my sons started.. then it went to arms, legs, back.. a lot better now lol.. anyways he never got it in diaper area but i heard it can go there.. he did have a jock itch rash if you will .. i got a rx and it got rid of it.. but it can takea lil while to get rid of.. fungal things usual do
