Ever had mastitis and not breastfeeding?

Im 26 and just last night July 20th I went into the express care because my left armpit and breast was killin me and i had a sore throat as well...come to find out I got mastitis again...im not even breastfeeding and I thought mastitis was only common for breastfeeding mothers...I did have it though when I did breast feed...was wondering if anyone could help me out with this or if someone else had a similar experience please share thanks!

It's crazy I am feeling the same way.. I had mastitis when I was breastfeeding and my daughter is 3 now.. I am feeling like the first symptoms of mastitis and thought couldnt be... I have to check my self now... Didnt think it could be possible

hey thanks guys yea i never knew it was possible to get mastitis without breastfeeding and did you know men could even get it as well!?!......but my babies are definitely not on my boobs lol my youngest will be 3 in October and he has teeth,...yea no no boobie feeding....but its crazy right?...Im on cephalexin (keflex)for it and it wipes me out makes me dizzy a little and very tired...but hopefully Ill be off of it soon...i had one physicians assistant to scare the heck outta me and my husband and said it looked like breast cancer!! thankfully he got a second opinion....so far the meds are working....and I hope not to have it again!!...thanks guys

I only got mastitis once, and was definitely not breastfeeding. My baby was 5 years old (She's now 18). It is very painful and they are not sure what caused it. I had to do several rounds of strong antibiotics to get rid of it.

Ouch, Meilani I feel for your. I only had it when I was breastfeeding, so painful, no one had ever mentioned anything about it, but I had a great midwife who was a herbilist, she told me that I was not to go out side into the wind without enough layers of clothes on, (said that the sudden change in outside temp, with the temp of breastmilk caused a chill which turned to mastitis. I'm assuming your on anitboitics & not having to do the panadole, cabbabe leaf, drink heaps & feed trhrough it route.

when i was breastfeeding i never got mastitis , but my sister did ( sympathy symptoms ) she hasnt even got kids !!! she was in a lot of pain and went to the doctors who told her she had Mastitis , i was shocked i didnt know it was possible !
