Camille, I with you on the fact that you wanted your baby to be trained before starting school. Yes! My 2 yr old will be starting pre-school in Sept. 2010, so you know I'm panicking.. But I'm sure he be ok by the time September rolls around again.
thnx u all

In my case my daughter was much easier to potty train. She was my first child, not sure if that has anything to do with it or not, and was fully potty trained at a younger age than my son

in my opinion boys are easier to train. my oldest was trained at 1 and a half. it would have been earlier if it wasn't for weekend away and leaving him with his grandparents. i work for a whole week to get him out of the diapers but as soon as i left for the weekend they put a diaper on him and i had to start over. my youngest was trained at about the same time. have patience they will figure it out . but you have to stick with it. i learned that the hard way. grandparents sometimes dont care and do what they want and not what you want

WOW! well u guys know I have 2 boys an 8 yr old and a 2 yr old, My 8 yr old potty trained at 1 yr old. But my 2 yr old doesn't even go near the potty.lol. My friends who have girls say they're daughters were very fast learners at potty training.
But it seems as though it really depends on the child and when they're ready!lol

Faster or sooner?
It may be opinion/not fact but I think girls are ready to train at an earlier age than boys. My dd was trained at 2 1/2... Other little boys I know of trained closer to 3 yrs and later. My son not untill 3 1/2.
Each child is ready at his own unique time. As far as the speed with wich they train, this is definitely unique per child- I don't think it matters boy/girl.

My birth son was potty trained by two and a half and my stepson started potty training when he was three and a half.. It depends on the child..Some children are harder to train more then others.. Some girls are easier and some boys are easier.. Depends..

My opinion is, the boys were easier. My first boy, pretty much trained himself by watching his Dad by the age of two and two months he was out of diapers, just in time for his sister to be born. I had no problem with bed wetting, of course he was the exception to the rule. The girls took longer and my last child who was a boy took about the same time which was closer to two and a half. After all they were used to going in their diapers for at least 2 years, suddenly we want them to stop. I think if you do something as a routine for at least 3 weeks, it can be done. Who is really trained at an earlier age though us or them? I noticed my nieces who were pretty much forced to go on the potty before they seemed ready regressed.

Its an opinion. All 3 of my kids (2boys and a girl) potty trained in a heartbeat. Only one had night time issues.

I have two sons, both of which were a nightmere to toilet train. They would have been about 4 years old before they had it nailed. I was in such a panic, worrying about them getting it sorted before they started school. My brother also has two sons however, and he managed to have them trained by the time they were about 18 months old! I think its a combination of the childs personality and the parents technique... trying to match the right technique to the right personality of the child is half the battle. I did not have any girls, so I can not compare by gender.

We have 7 children, all 3 girls potty trained easier than the 4 boys. I really think my twin boys (now 14) might still be wearing diapers if it hadn't been for their younger sister potty training before them :-)
But don't be disheartened...they all potty train, eventually. M&M's are a great incentive.

OPINION! My 1st son was potty trained at 18 months ... my second was 21 months & my daughter will be 2 on the 16th & won't even look at a potty. She will probably be 3 before she even tries ... nothing can get her butt on that seat!
