Finger foods.. When 2 start...

for my son... we started off with biter biscuits and puffs when he started "eyeing up" our food when we all sat down for a meal or snack (at about 9 months old - he had his front teeth). It wasn't so much out of hunger as it was out of pure interest. Now, at 18mo. old I prepare just one meal for us all so that we are all eating the same food (with perhaps one different food item such as his fave starch or veggie)... because he/she will want whatever it is that you have. It's a great lesson in sharing too and it makes it a lot easier when preparing dinner for all. Don't be a hero and make separate meals, lol. Hope this helps a little bit ;o)

From my experience, it was once my daughter was able to pick up things easily with her fingers and when she started being interested in what I was eating and trying to grab at it. My daughter started with puffs, baby cookies etc when she was 8 months old. She started eating finger food for meals about a month ago (at 9 months of age). She grabbed my toast from my hand one day and ate it, so I figured she was ready to eat by herself. She is doing great and only has 2 teeth. As long as your baby can grab food easily and the food is soft and bite size (the puffs are good because they dissolve once hitting siliva), and he/she is showing an interest in food, then give it a try. But of course you must be there when he/she is eating the puffs/etc. Good luck
