Have a party, with family and friends. Since he not walking he can just soak up the attention he gets from everyone. That's what I did. She had a great time. I mean what is more fun than having everyone adorn you, eating cake, and opening presents and then playing with the toys you got while mom and dad take pics. Easy & simple. Less stress too.

Have fun! Invite your close family and a few close friends. Let him be the star of the night. Don't have a party for his friends - he doesn't care. A little cake of his own, lots of love and pictures to treasure. What more could you ask for!

I went really overboard with my first son's first birthday. We had 15 one year olds round our house for a party - the noise level was unbearable!
In retrospect we should have just had family and close friends round for a birthday tea.

My daughters first bday was jan 6th this year.We took her to see alvin&the chipmucks the second one and she loved it.She sat so well with her big sister five and giggled all the way through.

We came out of the cinema to snow everywere. It was so nice. Her bday was cancelled due to it being to dangerous to drive in it.Were not used to getting snow.So for the next week we made snowmen and had snowball fights..it was a first bday to remember. She had a ball.

So i would say a family get together and a bday cake.Lots of giggles and fun.Perfect.

Just a family celebration was lovely for my children, a buttercake decorated with favourite fruit(strawberries?) and some balloons was enough.lf the child is surrounded by smiling, loving faces that should be enough, the parties can get bigger as the child gets older!
