I need some advice on my daughter's first birthday party. Her birthday is on October 25th but I want to throw her a party on Sat October 27th so that more people will be able to attend. I want to make this a birthday/Halloween party because its so close to Halloween. But I'm trying to figure how to decorate. I have a big backyard and a huge garage. I'm setting up all the food and things in the garage and hoping to have some fun Halloween activities for both kids and adults. So I have to decorate the garage and the yard. And I have to come up with some activities as well so I know what type of Halloween/birthday decorations to put in the yard.
Can someone please help me? Any advice would be so helpful. I want to make this fun for everyone, including my daughter.

Thanks Kristin!! Those are awesome ideas. I'm glad I'm finding people who are so creative and positive about how to celebrate a baby's first birthday. My daughter is extremely intelligent and very active so I need to find different activities to amuse her.
I tried running this idea past my husband's aunt who usually has some good ideas, but she was so negative. She told me that it was stupid and pointless for throwing a party like that for my daughter. And she actually had the nerve to say that I shouldn't let her play with oither children, even if they are the same age, because she could get hurt or in her words "get the daylights knocked out of her." So I decided to have a small get-together with his parents, aunt, and grandmother. Then I'm gonna have the Halloween birthday bash for my friends and family.
Its so difficult to stay positive in life and I try to keep positive for my daughter, but for some reason his aunt keeps trying to bring me down so she's not invited to the bigger party. I don't need anymore drama in my life. I just want to have fun with my daughter. Life is too short to be negative all the time.

My birthday is October 25th too!
fill some empty soda bottles with candy corn and use them as bowling balls for bowling for the kids.
a huge backyard would be perfect for baseball, friends, any outdoor game. great for all ages and both boys and girls.
get shower poofs and glue on some googly eyes to make them into monsters. hide them throughout the yard and garage and have the kids find them.
