I bought my husband a couple of kid's books that he can read to our son. One's called "Why I Love My Daddy" and the other is called "My Daddy and Me." They'll be special books that only Daddy can read to Cohen, and I wrote the date and "love Cohen" in each one.

For each of my boys I have a stepping stone with there foot print in it and the date and year. They gave it to there dad on there first fathers day. A couple of years ago, I had the boys make one with each of the handprints on the same stepping stone and I wrote around it " Worlds Greatest Dad." I think they cherish that much more then a bought gift.

I've made a photobook for my daughter's daddy... It's his first father's day too, our daughter is only 2 months old, so she can't really help much, and we had her footprints done when she was first born, so didn't want to do that again just yet. You can sign up to loads of sites for free where you can have them made... I did mine on photobox and I think it's turned out lovely!

My sister in law took a plain white shirt, and then put their 2 year old and 4 mo.olds hand prints on the front, and footprints on the back - and a cute saying (darn, cannot remember it! ha!) but write what you'd like. It was adorable! And he wore it all day!

I thought it was really important to include our daughter in my husband's first father's day gift, and money was tight. I came up with an inexpensive idea (cost less than $10), that my husband loved. I bought a poster board, some finger pants and sponge letters. With my help our five month old daughter stamped out the words "Happy Father's Day" and then we made her handprints and footprints, then I let her go to town smearing paint all over the rest of the paper. She had a blast, and the fingerpants (Crayola washable) cleaned up easily. We hung it on the door so her daddy would see it when he came home. My husband liked it so much that he had it framed and hung it in our room.

Well a past father's day gift we did was make "coupon books" I did this when my girls were 3years and 7months old. My 3 year old's said things like "Good for one Kiss" ect We made one for my 7 month old (it was kind of a joke one) we put things like "I will never talk back" , "I will always think my daddy is the best", "Daddy will be the only boy I ever kiss" it was funny and cute and then I made one but put more "adult" stuff in from me ;) ... You could do this for your son and put things like "I will never wreck your car", or "I will always be willing to help you do yard work" and "Daddy is always right" Oh by the way we saved the one from my 7 month old so he could hand them to her later...LOL

My daughter is giving Daddy a book too that he can read to her. It's about Daddies and their kids.

If your husband likes coffee or tea, Hallmark has these really great photo mugs. You can put a 4x6 photo of your little one in it. What's nice is that you can change the photo out as your son grows. It's like a new mug every month. I bought one for my husband and our fathers. http://preview.tinyurl.com/yp5oes

You could make some handprints of your baby and mount it on some nice paper. There are non toxic paints that can be used. AC moore or any craft store should have something nice! You could add the date or even frame it.

My daughter "bought" my husband a new watch for Father's day this year. She lost his other one, Something small like an inexpensive watch or shirt, would be nice.
