I agree that the risk of death from the flu is low, but by getting vaccinated I'm ensuring that my son won't be catching the flu and helping to spread it around his daycare to babies who are too young to get the vaccine. And while death from the flu is not too common in healthy toddlers, there's no way to know if he'll get a mild form of the disease, or be very ill and require hospitalization. Considering the low incidence of adverse reactions, I'll take the shot over the flu and possible complications any day.

If you do a search you should know that it is mainly the elderly, and children with pre exist health problems that die from the flu

Some people say that they are a good thing In our case the two years we have got flu shots we were more sick than we ever have been. I think it depends on if your child gets sick very easy. I have a 12 year old a five year old and a three year old and they do not get them. Also I work with the pubic hands on for my job I am a cosmetologist and we still stay pretty healthy with out it. thank you have a good day

What are seasonal flu-related deaths?
"Seasonal flu-related deaths are deaths that occur in people for whom seasonal influenza infection was likely a contributor to the cause of death, but not necessarily the primary cause of death." http://www.cdc.gov/flu/about/disease/us_... APx 36,000 Americans die from Flu a year, however 95% of those people had conjoining complications with another medical issue
f a chance of dying from the flu.

I am an RN and I get all my kids a flu shot every year, plus me and my husband. My son got his 1st one when he was 4 mos old. There really are no cons unless they are allergic to eggs. Children who get the flu have a much higher chance of dying than when an adult gets it.

I never have got the flu shot for my children. The flu shot is not for the flus that cause you to vommit. It is for the stuffy head, achy, fever type of flu. My mother alaways gets the flu really bad when she gets the flu shot. Personally I want to stay away from it period. Also I have my own theory on how the shots cause the strands of flu keep changing every. But, thats your choice. My children have never had the stuffy, ache fever flu and my oldest is 7.

Pros? He'll be very unlikely to get the flu. That is enough of a pro for me. My husband and I already got our flu shots, and I'll be getting my one year old vaccinated tomorrow.

I don't do them with my kids. It really depends on the child though, does she get sick alot? is she in daycare? if yes, then i'd talk to your dr. about it. Most healthy babies though, I don't think should need one.
Swine flu on the other hand, heck no!! Im not to crazy about that one.
