There is a big recall on certain children's Tylenol products. More info on their site.

I am going to lock this thread. It wasn't intended as a debate between Ibuprofen and Tylonol. Thanks ladies :)

ask you local pharmacy. They will tell you the difference between the two. They know more about the medications than the doctors do.

Ibuprofen is hard on the stomache: if its a choice between my stomache and having gas issures or liver damage. I choose Gas for my self or my kids. LIver you can't live w/o.
liver can repair its self for a little while. But if left untreated. it won't. it ends up with the same damage to you liver as drinking does. Cirrhosis of the liver. From Tylenol

I am very careful about Tylenol myself. I now from my experiece it can cause Liver damage.
So when ever I have to take it. I also take Milk Thistle. That help repair any live damage. So it protects my liver from any damage that the tylenol may cause. Its anything with the active
engredient a acetaminophen. just google: tylenol liver damage.

I've been hearing time and time again not to give Tylenol at all. With or without recall. It's
hard on the liver and very harmful. You should stick w/ ibuprofen instead. I give my son Tylenol from time to time, but am seriously considering doing away w/ it all together.
Ibuprofen is more harmful to the liver then tylenol. plus Ibuprofen is an anti-imflamitory witch thins the blood. and makes for more serious problems. it is better to give Tylenol then Ibuprofen.

Thank You for posting this. I just sent it to my Girl Scout Troop and to my daughters whole class.
By the way Tylenol does cause Liver Damage BUT only if taken in large doses and continuosly. I have arthritis and I have checked into this. My Doc. said as long as I'm not living on it and the same for the kids through a fever they get ever once in awhile won't hurt them.

The best part is you are not going to get your money back. They get to make a profit on a defective product, and then recall it so you have to buy more?
Hi Kelley, did you go back to the retailer to ask about it? It doesn't say anything about it on the site, but I find it hard to believe you wouldn't get your money back. It is a "recall" not a "throw out". They are asking for them back. If you take them back to the retailer, as opposed to throwing it in the waste, you will probably find there will be a refund/replacement program.

i have asked several doctors n they all say that its not true..
How can it be not true if it is posted on the Tylenol official website? It sounds like the doctors you spoke to just hadn't heard about it.

I heard of the recall. Unfortunately, the numbers on the bottle had faded off. I just threw out the 2 bottles I had. Start new.

Yes, someone else started a thread on this, thank God, because I had no idea. I have seen that it's been pulled from shelves whew!! My 6 month old is teething and luckily I had used the target brand. Thank you for the info, as I'm sure a lot of mom's still don't know.

I wish I had read this earlier. I gave my 3 yr old child tylenol for her fever and ten minutes later she had a fibriel seizure. First time it ever happened. I'm not saying it was necessarily caused by the tylenol but I wouldn't have given it to her if I had known it had been recalled.
