I am having a problem with my 3 month old. She is cranky and unable to feed well from 3-4pm until 8 pm daily. We have tried everything from gas relief drops to chiropractic, which helped a little. What happens is she nurses or feeds on bottle for a few minutes then squirms, screams, and has to stop eating. Burping either doesn't work, or she burps but then screams when laid back to feed. She is so tired and hungry that by 8-9 pm she takes her bottle from dad and sleeps. Nurses well all other times of day. What is up with this?

Does really need that feed between 4 & 8pm, especially if she feeds well in general? You may be causing further aggrevation. Try top up her up a bit more in afternoon to get her thru to 8pm when Daddy feeds her. It's Colic alright, but it doesn't last forever.

hi Jennifer. I am a RN that gets asked that question alot. Have you talked about this problem with your doctor?? Is Baby healthy?? I would ask you to look up The period of purple crying on the internet. It explains a lot on babies that age and why they cry, kick, scream that many people think is colic, but actually isn't. It will also give you advice on how to soothe your babe when they are in that period. Very supportive, and highly reseached info on that site. Check it out. Hope it can answer some of your questions.

It sounds like what shanna said acid refux disease. What has your pediatrician said? If that's not it maybe time to try the rice cereal early. She is prolly bored of the same food and wants to try something new, My daughter had cereal early and she loved it. She is still till this day a picky eater. Or another thing it could be is the formula mixed with breast milk can make them either have diarrhea or have hard stools. Most of the time you need to try one or the other.. Hope this helps.

It might be reflux. Does she cry more when laying down? My daughter would do that when she tried to burp and then if you layed her down soon after eating she would scream bloody murder. I read that reflux usually shows symptoms around 3 months old. If that's the case we tried a couple of things that worked. First, try not to lay her down for at least 15 minutes after you feed her. The longer the better. Maybe get one of those Boppy's (?) We also elevated her mattress a little by putting a pillow under the mattress. And if you are nursing, caffeine and chocolate and dairy can be HUGE culprits! I know it sounds like a lot to avoid, but they grow out of it when they can start sitting up on their own. We also used Colic Calm for really bad days. You can check out their website www.coliccalm.com. It's homeopathic and it REALLY works. Let me know if this helps and good luck!
