getting pregnant after depo!

I am a 22 yr old young lady and I am having a slightly similar problem I have now been married to my hubby since march 2012 and the year before when we where dating we decided to go on birth control my Gp recommended depo , yes at that time we didn't want to get pregnant just before my wedding in February I had a reaction that they thought might have been caused by depo and they decided to remove me off it , since then I have been having problems with my period , don't get me wrong it came straight after but I have been getting my period twice a month the first 7 days or it can come for 14days or more and then just as the month is about to finish it will come back again I only have maybe a week or less to rest . My life has changed and my husband is complaining because he doesn't understand I went to see my Gp and they said they can help me after a year of no changes , why don't they tell us what we are going to face after , I have warned all my family and friends not to even think of taking this route please if anyone can help me it would do me help I'm struggling I really need help and it would be appreciated

My last Depo was due in June I missed it I tried all sorts of things to bring my Periods back I went to a place here in Trinidad & Tobago called Naturalised herbs they gave me a womb cleanser I started spotting on the 4th day I really think its workin 4 me

I am 23 years old and engaged. I had the depo shot about 9 9 1/2 months ago and i just found out that i am pregnant. i want to be excited but i am frighted by the thought of miscarriage so bad i want to break down and cry. I only took the depo that one single time a little over 9 months ago and it would mean a lot to me if some of you ladies could give me some relief or just plain honest advice.

My Shot was due June 19th 2012 I missed it today is November 05th and I still have not gotten my period this has me so stressed I am on some herbs this week so really hoping they work

I had the depo June 21 2012 Today is Nov. 5 2012 and I havn't recived my period. ive heard the depo can permanitly stop you from having children an im having a major heart attack. is this true?

My last depo was June 2012 i have seen no periods since then I tried Prenatal Vitamins no help and i just stopped taking agnus castuse which i took for about 2weeks it helped me ovulate but still no periods trying to conceive should i do a detox in which one would help?

well i was on the depo for 3 1/2 years. i got off in january of 2012 and i didnt start my period till July of 2012 so i think it just depends on your body to when ur periods will come back. and i havent found anything to kick start my period so i think you just have to wait on your body.

When I first got my depo shot I was on it for 3 months got off it for a year & got back on it again for 3 months and now I'm off . I was suppose to get my period on August 9 but still haven't gotten it . Can I still get pregnant ?? How long will it take for me to get pregnant since I wasnt on depo that long ?

Depo doesn't prevent pregnancy, it makes the endometrium thin so that it can't support the pregnancy and you abort. It takes a while, months to years , depending on your nutritional status and how thin your endometrium has become before you can hold onto a pregnancy again.

It is going to take patience. It took me 6 months to get pregnant after depo. Then I had a VERY early miscarriage. Took me another 6 months to get pregnant again. That time I had a healthy baby girl. My doctor gave me Provera each month to start my cycles. I don't think doctor's are clear enough on the after effects of depo. I have NEVER taken it since. I still blame depo for my miscarriage. But, the comments about it taking a year for things to get back to normal and you to get pregnant sound pretty accurate.

I am and have been on depo...I only had maybe two shots and then no period for a year and when I was suppose to start I found I was pregnant with my first she is now Five...used depo for 6 months after her birth no period for a year again...didnt get pg untill last Jan. had my second October 11 2009...you have to allow your body time to get back into sinc with the depo...also the first couple of periods you get are called dead periods usually brown in color,,i know maybe a lil discriptive...dr. said this is normal the shot for some reason those eggs are the first after coming of the depo and usually harder to get fertilized..also it is normall to not have a period for yrs after having depo....my dr..new a girl who was on it for 5 yrs and didnt get a period for seven...so dont give up just let your body adjust to the different hormones that were not being produce b/c of the depo...but yes you can get pg after using i have twice now and i am on depo again and will be coming off soon to try for a third baby...hopes this helps and good luck to you!!!

it says on the depo site it can take anywhere from 6 to 18 months for your body to resume periods and for you to become fertile again... you can always talk to your doctor and see if there is anything they can give you to help make your periods come back, but you still may not be able to get pregnant right away..

I heard that the shot could do that to you. It hasn't been that long yet though. I would talk to your doctor and see what you can do. I would just keep trying.

I asked a similar question on here and by hearing how long it took to fall pregnant I am now off the needle. We want to start trying around September, so that gives me 6 months to hopefully get my body back in order (wishful thinking but im optimistic). As for getting pregnant you can get ovulation detectors (I dont know what they are called) so you know when your most likely to get pregnant. Maybe try a detox as mentioned before. Also when I was at my chiropractor i found that they can actually help with infertility, which was a big surprise (Im planning on trying that when we are ready to try). And stop trying so hard!!! My mother was desparate for my brother and had no luck for 2 years and in end she ended up giving up and soon after that she fell pregnant. Just relax it will happen in time.

the shot is good for a min of 3 months but for most people it lasts much longer than that, especially if you have a slower metabolism. be patient, it is likely that the hormone is still in your body, and you dont want a baby to be exposed to that anyway. your body will allow you to get pregnant when you are ready. i know the waiting is hard, but dont give up. trust your body.

took me 4.5 yrs to get pregnant after depo. About 9 months to get my period back, but the doc said the drug actually stayed in my system for 2 yrs one reason i couldn't get pregnant right away. my advice to you is to not stress over the fact that you are not prenant right away. let the drug work its way out of your system. Once your periods are back to normal then try. It will cause you to have less stress that way. And majic will happen when it is supposed to. Good luck.

hi, i am 26 i have been on the shot since my daughter was born, she is now 5 and a half, i was not told of the side effects when i went on it first nor was i told how long it wud take to regulate when stopping, i was also not told to take a break in between, so now i am waiting, and believe me when i say waiting!! last shot i took wud have finished april 2009, i had to wait till october to get a period, and the "periods" i get last for 3 weeks and are literally as heavy as afterbirth! i am sick of them! as u can guess we have been trying to conceive since april 2009 i am sick to death of waiting, i dont know if i am ovulating, i dont even know if this stuff i have is an actual period r what, my hormones are all over the place, even 3 of my close friends have all become pregnant around christmas time all by accident, i dont understand it, i want another child so much and its not happening, yet my friends are conceiving at the drop of a hat! my patience is wearing thin,

I have never been on depo. So I don't know exactly how that works. However, make sure you have plenty of folic acid coming in. Start taking prenatal vitamins. It helped with me us. Be sure not to get straight up after having intercourse. Prop a pillow up under your butt. Don't attempt to try and hold yourself up with your legs in the air. That's just totally uncomfortable. Also try and talk to a doctor about it. Maybe he can give you some more tips also. Don't get frustrated so much either. If you try and force it too much it won't happen, and what I mean by that, don't have sex every night two and three times at a time. When it gets on or close to time your supposed to ovulate (and if you don't have a period yet, gestimate or change weeks) Try and not to have sex several days before and stay that way until you feel its time to do so. And as I said I don't know exactly how the DEPO works, but hopefully this will help. Pick and choose what you may.:) Good luck. Hope to hear some good news in the months to come! :)

it took me a year after i got off depo to get pregnant with my second child,it will happen it just takes yr body alittle longer to get rid of the hormones im now a proud mimmy of three litle girls

if the doctors had told me that it wld take this long 2 get pregnant i wldnt hav bothered going on it in the first place i have even resorted 2 sweating it out in the gym 3 times a week but i cant see how its supoosed 2 get rid off the hornmone. its sooo fustrating.

I used to take the Depo shot....but I had been off of it for quite a few years before getting pregnant. I would talk to your doctor about it and see if there is anything you can do. That would be your best bet. But also...calm down. Trying to get pregnant can be frustrating sometimes. Just do your best to stay as stress free as you can. And be careful if you take the Depo shot again. I have heard it may cause bone density problems. Good luck.

I was on the depo shot for 5 years and went off at the start of Oct and was pregnant at the end of Dec. I think they say it could take up to 2 years...generally at least 6 months min. Good luck, and don't give up!

Im in exactly the position as yourself. but it can take up to 2 years for your periods to come back after the depo shot , it took me a year from the last shot to getting pregnant and i only had around 5 periods in that year so it is possible to become pregnant. I stupidly went back on it after i had my son and this shot ended december 09, had a period in jan but not this month, and im not pregnant which is soooo frustrating. But from my experience i should of known better than to go back on the depo shot. A friend of mine went back on the mini pill to try and regulate her periods but didnt work. There is some suggestions on detoxing your body of the chemicals by drinking alot of water for a month, some woman have had apparent success but im not so sure.

Ive personally never been on the shot but I've heard it can take up to a year to get pregnant after you stop taking it...I was on the Nuva Ring for almost 2 yrs straight and it took almost a year for me to get pregnant. I would def talk to your doctor tho to get the specifics. Good luck and happy baby making :)
